Florida Immigrant Coalition (Coalition) is a statewide coalition of organizations working together for fair treatment of Florida’s immigrants. The Coalition was formed in December 1998 as a program of Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center (FIAC), a statewide immigrant advocacy and legal services organization, where it remains housed. The Coalition’s mission is to seek equal rights for immigrants and integration into the civic and cultural life of our communities. The Coalition accomplishes its mission through coordination of immigrant organizations and community education, organizing and advocacy. The Coalition believes in the empowerment of immigrants and the unification of immigrant communities to develop an amplified voice for immigrant rights.
Director, Florida Immigrant Coalition
To coordinate emerging state-wide coalition; plan, schedule, and moderate coalition and community meetings, presentations, conferences, and press conferences; maintain and distribute information through the Coalition network; write and distribute monthly E-News!; develop multi-lingual policy materials; research and write policy papers; coordinate policy campaigns on the local, state, and national levels; maintain relationships with member organizations, community groups, policy makers, and media; write funding reports, develop relationships with Coalition funders and pursue funding opportunities; and travel to state and national events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, fluency in Spanish, and three years non-profit experience required. Highly motivated self-starter with strong administrative, verbal and writing skills preferred as well as a commitment to social justice. Some fund raising experience helpful.
Salary and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience. FIAC offers a comprehensive benefits package.
