Here is a poem i wrote recently.. tell me what you think :)…
Point me in the right direction
The path I must take to salvation;
For so long I’ve trailed under false pretences
A passion which once burned within me,
A passion I realise need never have existed.
It was merely the direction the wind was blowing
Leaving a still whirr of self doubt at present,
Otherwise a trait of coming to my senses.
The signs which set me upon this course
Were never the workings of destiny;
They remind me of a time long ago
A time so happy… a time fixed in the creation of memory,
Losing myself in the waves as they reached for the shore
Only to pull back with them the markings I hastily etched in the sand.
I never was one to appreciate such workings of nature
But experience has led me to believe
Like shape shifters they return as an entity.
“With great power comes great responsibility”
A wise man once said, yes, a figment of my imagination
But I hesitate to be associated with such notions
Laugh if you must, but me and the superhero are much alike;
Common traits we share, battling the wrong to obtain what’s right
But the heaviest burden is the disillusionment our past creates
Even our allies dare not anticipate our downfall,
Little do they realise this expectation means burning our hands on the sun.
Another destination I have yet to pursue
One where the smile I wear upon my face
Corresponds to the healing scars deep within.
I need a direction which isn’t one I am swept to,
A direction more like the one fate has created for me
For no action unfolds without a purpose, one of the wonders of the universe;
Break away from the chains of repetitiveness infesting my days
Saved from the ranks of spite, which, at present is winning the race.
