I’m having a 10 person dinner party this Saturday. i want to cook some stuff in advance to save stress on day of…but unsure what should i do first or day of.
Menu
Dal
Saag
Vegetable (potatoe and carrots)
gosht
Chicken
Biryani Rice/naan i’ll be ordering in.
Was thinking to do meats day of (but prepping onion/masala day before)
Daal, saag and vegetables on Thursday and Friday. Ok?
Re: Dinner parties- do you and what would you cook in advance?
Daal definitely make the day of. The chicken you can prepare the night before, make the masala & bhoonafy the chicken, but dont cook it thru. On Sat, just add water and cook thru for shorba. It tastes fine. Same with gosht. The vegetables, hmm again just make the masala & add veggies & cook on saturday morning, and take care of any cleaning/preps the night before.
Re: Dinner parties- do you and what would you cook in advance?
Rice dishes such as biryani are cooked on the same day the guests arrive.....a few hours prior to arrival.
**
Other salans** (meat or vegetarian) such as korma, palak/aag, haleem, nihari can be cooked a couple of days in advance.** Daal** is best cooked on the day of the party.
Chutneys (mint or imli or apricot) can be made a few days in advance. Yogurt based raitas and salads should be prepared on the day of the party.
Deserts like kheer, sawaiyan, gajar ka halwa can be prepared days in advance.
