Last time when I went to Pakistan in 04, the air hostess came to me and asked me what I would like in breakfast. I asked her what my choices were. She said “Continental or ”. I asked her what each breakfast had. She said one had fish and the other one had egg and cheese. I asked her “if you were in my place, which one would you eat?”. She said she would eat fish. I thought for a second, and then said “okay give me egg and cheese then” I didn’t mean to be mean and it just happened that I didn’t like fish and I was hoping she would say egg but she didn’t. She turned red due to embarrassment (she was pretty young).
Then she came to serve another meal (lunch, I think) and just gave it to me. I jokingly said “do I not get choices this time?”. She remembered the incident and said “Nahi aap tou meri baat hi nahi maantey, isliye aapko choice nahi dee jaye gee”. I just smiled and she did also and moved on.
I think PIA’s flights would be more pleasant if such light humor existed in the plane. But desis like to annoy the heck out of air hostesses and they in return act as if they are volunteering. I just love these short one-liners
