Dinner after Iftari

Many people like to have a proper/normal dinner after Iftari/Maghrib prayer.

How many of you have dinner after having your Iftari meal?

Atleast I dont. I work... so I come home and just serve the cooked food (dinner) after that we dont eat anything till sehri time. Sometimes, not very often, I would make the normal iftari stuff... in v small proportions like samosas, pakoray etc and then serve food. but thats rare.

Re: Dinner after Iftari

I am not that hungry after iftari either. Trying to cut down on the deep fried stuff and i feel bit lighter already!

Re: Dinner after Iftari

Its never been a riwaj in our family to have "iftari" first and then "dinner", we start off with regular food (maybe a date to break the fast).... right now though we have dinner separately cz ill be in college or on the way home when roza will opeN, he opens his fast at home and waits for me so we can have dinner :@:

Re: Dinner after Iftari

We used to have a full iftari followed by dinner at my parents place with probably an hours break between iftari and dinner.

However if it was something special like chinese or kebabs, iftari would be simple like dates, rooh afza and kachay chanay.

I just do dinner, iftari consists of something to drink with khajoor followed by maghrib namaaz and then eat dinner.

If I have a heavy iftaar, I can't have dinner or sehri (I just can't wake-up and eat!) So I have my soup/sandwich at iftaar!

We have some iftari starters, then pray maghrib, then eat the proper stuff.

However, sometimes we dont have starters just dates, water, eat main meal quickly and then pray.

Re: Dinner after Iftari

we used to have proper iftari and then dinner after taravis... but that was arabia where the whole routine changes thruout the country for working hours and shoppig hours...

at my in laws .. we either have iftari or proper food.. not both cuz there aint tat much time to have both things... damn denmark yet again!

Re: Dinner after Iftari

We have either just iftar or dinner as both get too heavy. Sometimes i do some of usual iftar i/e pakoras and dinner like rice + raita together.

Re: Dinner after Iftari

We usually have heavy iftari like pakore, samose, chaat, spring roll etc and dinner after 10 or something, Maannnn I m hungry–stop talking about food :crying:

Re: Dinner after Iftari

I think mostly ppl who use to have dinner, they usually have their Iftari with a light menu. I use to have enough iftari that's why I don't get space for dinner in my stomach.

Re: Dinner after Iftari

We don't have a separate dinner so to speak, but recently i make myself a salad about 2 hours after iftar time cos im a fat greed.

Re: Dinner after Iftari

Itari is not supposed to be a meal it is supposed to be light snack to curb your hunger temporarily till after the salat al maghrib. A proper meal should be eaten after the salat al maghrib.

For many families , including mine, Ramazan becomes a festival of foods or celebration of Allah's bounties. Exotic snacks at iftari, scrumptious dinners, then delectable sehri. Many people can enjoy and digest all that and also keep the weight off some or many cannot.

We have iftar first [thing like dates, fruit chaat, samosay, spring rolls, shami kababs, dahee baray etc] and then pray Maghrib and then eat a light dinner

Re: Dinner after Iftari

At my parents house, we had iftar with one fried item, fruit chat, some sort of kebabs or kachoris maybe, and a drink. But no one ate dinner.

Now when its just me and hubs and he likes to eat a proper roti, salan at dinner time, i make a light iftar, usually dates, milk and either a fried item in small quantity or fruit chat. After maghrib he has dinner.
