for those who live abroad from Pakistan - what did you do for your hair/makeup/dupatta setting.
Did you all automatically go for a desi to do make up? More importantly, hair and dupatta setting.
Thing is, I have already booked a fantastic arab lady for make up, and there are plenty of nice hair dresses around here, the problem lies, whether they will be able to drape the dupatta’s properly..
I notice, sometimes on youtube wedding clips etc, many people don’t necessaairly have desi to do make up etc.. then do you teach them dupatta draping or it just happens?
If you have any desi salon near your area, you should be able to find someone who can do dupatta and jewerly settings for you. Where are you from anyways? I know in Chicago there's LOADS of desis and desi salons, and they offer a lot of different bridal packages.
My cousin recently got married here in australia, and the hairdresser helped with the jewellery setting, as she wore a matha patti.
The makeup and hair was done by a gori, who had only previously done one desi wedding, but had worked with native maori's from new zealand.
My cousin made sure she showed pictures of exactly what she wanted, and had a makeup trial about a month before the big day. It actually looked really nice on teh day MA.
As for the dupatta, we were all worried about it - but my aunt and I set it and pinned it ourselves. It actually worked pretty well, just make sure that there is quite a bit of volume in the hair to help it sit nicely and help to hold the dupatta in place!
as long as you know how you want the dupatta to sit, I think the hairdresser will be able to help pin it into the hair at the very least. If you are worried, you might be able to have a trial for the hair and use a different (maybe an old one) dupatta practise and explain exactly what you want :)
