Re: Dill

My mum makes pakoras from fresh dill and also cooks it like spinach with rotis. Its a kind of strong taste ... you either love it or hate it.

Re: Dill

is it something between mint and corriander.........

Re: Dill

it's wonderful cooked with caramelized garlic and onions. you can also bake salmon with dill.

Here's my recipe-

Ingredients:
Dill - about 3 bunches for 2 ppl
garlic - 5 cloves, coarsely chopped
1 onion, slices
red chili powder, salt to taste
coarse soji (semolina) 2-3 tbsp - optional but really good
wash the dill thoroughly so any mitti/stones are washed away
pat dry and chop it finely
heat oil in a wok, add onions and garlic and fry til onions are golden.
then add the dill sabzi and salt, and stir well.
after a few minutes, stir in the soji and mix well.
add very little water, keep the heat on low and let the sabzi cook. when the water is evaporated and the oil comes up again, add red chili powder and cook for a few more minutes.
Serve hot with roti.
Sometimes I add boiled rice into the dill ki sabzi, stir and cook on low til the rice is slightly toasted. makes for a yummy lunch!

Re: Dill

Dill is a flavor enhancer...and supposedly I hear its good for the digestive system. In any case it tastes great as an added garnish to curry..i like it on gobi aloo, even chicken. It has a strong smell & taste so it doesn't go with everything. Its good on salmon....maybe a salad topping...in a dip....on a baked potatoe with sour cream

Re: Dill

You can use dill with vegetables...i use it when I cook spinach and potatoes. You can use use it on any fish....particularly tastes good with salmon.
You can also use it in many sauces....such as the sauce used in gyros.

Re: Dill

Make chana ka daal with it (split chana).

make your dal. then separatly brown onions, add garlic/spices and tomatoes...boon this and add dill. the flavor will be in this masala and you will add your dal to it. It's really LOVELY.

Re: Dill

oh and with aloo too. add tons of dill it's great.
