This is what actuall happens. Roshi thinks that her mom is dead but actually when her mom was younger her family thought that she was involved with her devar. So, her husband divorced her and she married her devar and lives in a different city

Oh gotchya!! I remember reading it in bits n pieces since it was a long running novel and I get bored from those. I think I read the end just to find out what the heck happened :D
