Hi everyone,
Is it completely wrong to apply for a job that a good friend is also applying for? I have friend who’s applying for a job that I want to apply to as well, but if it’s going to hurt the friendship than it’s completely not worth it. I’m going to talk to her about it on Friday Insh”Allah but I just wanted some input before talking to her. Is it completely wrong or should I apply?

I once applied for a job and I actually asked my friend to apply with me. Now some people thought I was very stupid to do that, because she was more qualified than I was. However, I got the job offer, she did not. Mash'Allah.
Some people wont like that you are applying for the same job as them, it just depends on the person. I myself dont mind it but some people do. If you are going to feel guilty about it, ask them. But if you ask them, there are chances they wont be completely honest with you either, especially if they wont like it and they dont want to seem selfish or something. In that case you have to gauge their reaction to it, and decide what you think is best to do, and if you'll be able to live with your decision if lets say you got the job and your friend didnt. Also, I would hope that something like this wouldnt break a friendship but you just never know. I would think that a good friend would simply be happy for you, but again, depends on the person.

I once told a friend about a job and we decided that we would go together, she went, applied for the job and got it too and never informed me :p
Once three of us applied for a job and when we went for interview we had a great time there but no job :-D
No I won't mind telling my friends to apply for a job i am applying for nor I would mind if they apply.
