I admit the only reason i started watching this drama is because it features one of my absolute favourite songs ever “koi door se awaz de” however 4 episodes on I must say I am quite hooked. Despite heavily borrowing from Sahib bibi aur ghulam it manages to be quite original with very well defined characters and a laudable ability to steer clear of OTT melodrama despite having some very stereotypical situations. Despite having quite a few characters and storylines, it manages to do justice to all. The acting is topnotch with stellar performances by Resham, Asad, Shamoon and the Dolly girl. My gripe is how the title song is played and re played ad nauseam whenever Resham’s character is shown on screen. Nevertheless it makes for a nice contrast with Mata e Jaan, the other drama I’m watching these days with its unabashedly filmi, old world feel compared to the latters realistic, minimalist one.
