Digital SLR lenses

After much thought i’ve decided to part with my hard earned cash and purchase a Canon Semi-pro camera, i’ve read the reviews and it ticks all my boxes, one thing i can do with some help is on lenses.

The price i’m paying is for body only, so i need to purchase a lens, i just don’t know which, any photographers here who own DSLR camera’s, what mm lenses are you using and do you ave more than just the one lense.

I have one 18-55 and one 28-300.
Most of the time i use the 18-55 because i need the wide angle

which type of camera are u going to buy? I would recommend u something like 18-70. You are a beginner and i think you should polish your skills before buying expensive glass :) Go for the 18-70 canon lens or sigma lens. Sigma will be cheaper but the the quality is similar :D

besides that, what kind of photography are u going to try? For sports or animal photography I would recommend superzooms. For everything else go for 18-70 or something similar

The Canon EOS 40D, i can get a good deal (body only) or as a package with a EF-S 17-85mm lens.

So you use your 18-55 for every day use? …and the 28-300 for?

I’m no beginner, i’ve just never bought a top quality camera to improve my photography. I generally like taking landscape and macro shots.

since you are a beginner, go for a basic lens to start with. Even if you can get the kit lens from some where got for it :k: since they are cheaper.

Get a zoom lens ranging from 18 to 70 or like 901-110mm.

Get the pack with 17-85 if the price is good!

Well I usually use the 18-55 for normal shots. The 28-300 is for special effents or other special occasions where I have to stand at a distance. And every now and then for macro photography :D

post some of your work, lets see what your all about.

i may build up my lens collection over time, as for now i'm just focusing on landscapes photography.

I have an 18-200mm VR lens for my Nikon D70s which is mostly what I use generally, and also a 70-300 mm for sports events.
