I’ve finally decided to take a leap into the 21st century and buy myself a digital camera, only I don’t know jack about them.
Please gimme some recommendations. I’m looking at spending about £150, and that’s all I know

£150 only!! you may get something for about 2.1M. Goto Maplin Electronics or Argos they have some cheap Kodak and some chinese brands. For a decent camera go for Fuji, but it will cost you about £200 inclusive VAT.
Come on man, 150 quid is enuff dollars for me. I'm used to using those 5 quid a go disposable camera jobs so I want to start off with a little ****ty one (cuz lets face it, it'll be lost in a couple of months!).
ok, forget the price tag, just make some suggestions and I'll see if I can get it cheap (my brother's friend's sister in law's friend has contacts).

Thats a bit rich coming from the someone who takes all their pictures on their mobile. Sadi get a Canon Powershot thingymajig. Shaz you get one too.

Joke aside, go for fuji FINEPIX A205S. Its a 2M camre with some realy nice features under a reasonable price. You can get it from Jessops in under £100. or KODAK EASYSHARE CX6200. Don't go for some cheap new names.
whatever you end up buying just make sure it has:
- At least 3MP
- the largest sensor size you can afford
- Optical Zoom
- a decent lens
Thanks for the suggestions people. So tell me something, you know when you buy a digital camera, can you still get normal photos processed from it (like those glossy ones on card that I usually get from my disposable camera)? Also, how many photos does an average digicam store?
Keep the suggestions coming – I’ve upped my budget to 200 quid (being the classy lass that I am).
BabaG, I've read some of the old digicam threads on Gupshup, and you sure seem to know your stuff … it’s gunnah to keep your knowledge to yourself, so go ahead and suggest me happy.

If you dont want that, I have a digital camera I m selling,
the olympus C220. Complete in box receid and batteries, extra memory (enough to make 100 pic of high quality.) and with 2 years waranty to go :) and it works just prime.
just gimme a sign if you want it, I m upgrading to a prosumer camera.
Buying it aint the problem ... I have contacts and I can get it for cheap, I just wanna know what model numbers I should look for. I'll do a bit of research n get back to you about ur camera, aight?

one thing, try to go for a 3 MP camera WITH opticall zoom.
Fuji, Olympus, Canon, Sony, Minolta anny one of them is good. 
3 mp is enough for normall prints
and If you want the camera, I ll make a ‘speciall price’ for it

answer to your 1st question, yes you can get it developed in the same way as films.
and as far as quality is concern it all depends upon the make and the senser used in camera… I got 6.0 Mp Super CCD from last two years when people hardly knew about 6.0Mp and its result is superb!
