Different names on Green Card and Passport

AOA everyone,

I wanted to know if it would be okay for my wife to travel with a Passport (Pakistani) which has her maiden name, but a Green Card with her married name? Has anyone run into any issues with this situation when re-entering the US? I know I can apply for a new Passport for her, but just wondering about this particular situation.

Thanks!

Re: Different names on Green Card and Passport

I would get the new passport before travel

Better to be safe, than sorry. Your best calling the UCIS’s National Customer Service Center (NCSC) who should be able to answer your enquiry.

  • They can be contacted on 1-800-375-5283

If they cannot answer your enquiry, you can visit the Travel section of the U.S. Dept of State at Travel and Business …their contact dets are at the bottom of the page.

Re: Different names on Green Card and Passport

I think if you have your marriage license/certificate and other supporting picture IDs you should be fine.

yes its ok, last year i travled to pakistan with green card and pakistani passport , on my green card i am using my hubby's name , and onpassport my last name is different , i didnot face any problem with that,
