What if you and your husband speak different languages?
Does it affect communication? Do you ever feel left out of the conversations he might be having with his family or friends?

Re: Different Languages
I am pathan, and my fiance is not. But I understand, and can speak urdu (not really well, but I get by). But I am practicing and getting better at it everyday. I try to speak to him in urdu as much as I can, and to my MIL as much as I can, so that I can get better.
He hasnt tried to learn pashto, and I highly doubt he ever will. But it doesnt bother him when I speak pashto in front of him with my family, cause i just fill him in after.
My brother is married to an Egyptian girl, and she speaks in Arabic in front of him with her family, but it doesnt bother him.
Re: Different Languages
learning a new language is so exciting :) if ur husband and his family speak a different language then try to learn it :)
Re: Different Languages
I'd say my first language is English, while my wife's is Urdu. It doesn't affect our communication though. I try to communicate with my inlaws in Urdu anyway, so I don't feel left out or anything. I have next to no interaction with her friends (and vice versa), so being left out is not an issue there.

She is not cheating . She is protecting her job. As a mod she is supposed to open 100 new threads on new topics every month. If fails to do so she will be fired and new mod will be hired.
Don't you notice this ukhaar pichaar of mods happening all the time ?
Re: Different Languages
LOL mirch I was a mod up until 2 weeks ago so I know how it works and I am just picking on farinaaa because thats one of the most fun things to do .
As far as the topic is concerned I think it depends on the couple on how they wanna take things. To some people it may be a big issue where as not so much for others. Personally, I have a thing for languages and I would give it a shot to at least be able to understand the other language to a point where a translator is not required.
Re: Different Languages
my hubby's family speaks bengali and my family is punjabi/urdu. Sometimes I do wish that we speak the same language because it helps when your in a public setting and you want to tell ur hubby something so that no one around would understand.
other than that..no issues. sometimes the inlaws speak bengali in front of me..if i cant get the jist of what they are talking about, i just ask hubby or SIL/BIL to translate.

It is a bummer that they have changed their policy, back in my days that was the policy , that is why I resigned from CM position. Do they still pay the Mods, CMs , Directors , VP, President , wadi monchoon wala ? Back in my days they used to pay a lot of money.
Re: Different Languages
I didn’t speak to my husband for the first decade of our marriage.

Re: Different Languages
I don't think it would bother me much reha as I would be bugging her to translate some or most of the stuff. I would wanna pick it up though and get the understanding part down.
To be honest I can sit here and type all I want but I think it would be a little awkward sitting with bare boorhe of her family and being totally clueless.
