I normally like to use the Green one , coz I think it retains its taste in stir fry’s and even desi dishes … the yellow and the red ones jsut lose their aroma and taste …
yellow one is probably best for salads , coz it doesnt have a very strong taste …
I spoke to a friend recently and she said they all taste the same and the only thing different is their color … what do you guys say?
I also usually use the green bell peppers. However I actually like using all three in stir-fry's or fajitas because it just gives the dish more color.
The green bell peppers have a stronger taste and are more bitter. On the other hand the yellow and red ones are............I would almost say sweeter? Don't know what I would exactly call it. It depends on the bell pepper, but most green ones are just unripe red ones.
The red and yellow do tend to be more sweeter than the green bell pepper. It isn't a drastic change however.
The different colors just brighten up your dish, don't change the flavor.
the reds are sweeter, and are nutritionally superior. they are also a bit more expensive as they are the same green peppers that have to stay on the plant longer until they ripen.
colored bell pepper has more of fruity flavor. yesterday, i used baby yellow and red pepper in baingan and it gave a very delicious and distinct flavor to baingain.
