Differences with parents and how do you handle it?

Re: Differences with parents and how do you handle it?

ahmadjee, I wasn't looking for advice to being with. I just wanted to hear how others deal with their parents when there are conflicting views and opinions. Your post did help a lot, thanks. :)

nia & lajawab, your grandmothers were absolutely right.

However, what most of you seem to be missing is that I was provoked to accept their view and nod my head in agreement that I would do what I'm told. That is what got me upest because I was asked to reply and not stay silent.

Anyway, I guess when we get mad, we tend to say things we don't mean. For instance, what was said to me wasn't exactly meant in its entirety. Things seem calm and I'm trying to work something out, where I would be doing a bit of what they want and a bit of what I want, insha'Allah. So hopefully it'll both please them and myself, insha'Allah.

nia, I'm gonna try and make a mental note about how I won't be around forever with my parents, so the time I spend with them, it better be quality and of full of respect, insha'Allah. :)
