I mean this should be an academic discussion. lets see how much the overlap s and isn't and then let it be.
rest are all personal choices right, whether someone likes dark and short folks or tall and fair, or nordic, or chinese or whatever.
lets just share what ppl know on similarities and differences. hopefully we dont forget in this process that we have one big similarity, we are human.
i agree.. but India is not one race. Not all south indians are dark and small. I think 50% of them might be but not all . Besides there is huge racial mixing in india. A study done by IISc banglore says that 99% of Indians come from the same stock.
Back to the point...Khatris..the business community..many people belonging to this community have "Ram" as surname for instance....Bharat Ram et al. While 'Ram Singh' will be used by a Khshatriya.
Because of casteist divisions in Indian society many people belonging to 'lower' castes try to hide their identity and start using names which are common among Khshatriyas like Singh, Chauhan, Thakur etc. But it really doesn't work. One can easily figure it out.
*So far as the appearance of people is concerned people belonging to Northern States of India and East of Present day Pakistan have similar features. But as you move towards South India people have dark complexion and features very different. Some of you who work in Middle East can see many South Indians and probably that's the reason people in pakistan have a different perception about the appearance of Indians. *
North Eastern India...You will find people with chinky features...half closed almond shaped eyes. :)
One cannot define this country by looking at the faces of few people.
Bollywood will always select gori chitti women. If they spot one such dame in South Indian film industry...she will be pulled into Bollywood.
then there are too many of south indians in mumbai then, from sridevi to aiswarya rai, to Hema malini to rekha. All are south indians. They are all actually tamilians.:D
^^You get North Indian genes mixed with South Indians, and South Indians in North India. From a genetic point of view, a South Indian is South Indian even if he’s in North India and versa.
I went to this Bollywood Show in Toronto, where these Indian movie stars came and performed their hit songs. Bipasha Basu looked so dark in person that I thought she was black.
So I assume that Bollywood makeup artists are really good in which they can even make dark bengali and dark tamil girls look almost like Pakistani
And its not just an Indian obsession
People in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam all prefer people who are light skinned
Its human nature I guess
ha now make up comes into play. Do the goras look any better without the makeups. :D. Now dont waste your time trying to convince me how not beautifull she is.:)
NOW HOW DO I POST ATTACHMENTS?
Now did you go and check each once genes or what. Where did they come from. If you believe in Adam and eve, then hopefully you should know everybody came from one gene.:D. Besides all of them have been south indians for generations.
I myself have been confused for spanish, arab, italian and turkish.
but no one has said that i am indian.
mostly because most of my friends are white so that could be a reason
but these goras don't know anything but themselves so they are not the best litmus test
leave about goras even i can't identify who is pakistani and indian some times i mistaken pakistani with north indians
Generally there is no intermingling of races from North or South. People are very particular about remaining in their own community. Love marriages between North Indians and South Indians do take place but intercommunity marriages has low incidence.
Does not matter. The discussion was North Indian looking people born in South India. They are just migrants. Their genes do not arise from their in general.
Well, I always could post attachments, and it takes longer to load stuff up on there..wondering why you cant do it now? I shall only post if people are interested in academic proofs, else I will not bother.
Okay so all Indians are short, dark and ugly according to Pakistanis. So? Now what? And what does it have to do with anything of importance.?
While I think Indians come in all shapes, sizes and colors, just like all the Pakistanis I have met... some fair, some dark, some prejiduiced and hatefilled, some open and welcoming.. the whole gamut. So thats just what I think.. how does it affect the real issues in life? How does it make one person better than another in the final analysis.
So illusions of grandeur based on skin color, are just that.. illusions. It does not nessecarily make you a better person than me or her or him or them.
sure there are, just like everyone in the British Raj was not one race and the same, when you break up into smaller units, those differences are still there.
But the magnitude of differences is def more pronounced when you look at the extreme ends of the subcontinent, there is more overlap in the middle areas think of venn diagrams and two overlapping circles, there issome that is common in some groups, and then there are groups who really dont have much in common.
Roadrunner, worst case scenario, if u cant load images in this thread, put them up in a thread in image gallery and then just provide the link here.
