Difference between jogging and running?

What do you think?

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Running Sprint b/w Jogging are really beneficial if you want to lose weight

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

brisk walk is most effective

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Sprinting makes you an athelete, you can only do it after your're in shape and optimizes your body, the cholesterol levels, blood pressure, heart rate... But yeah, joggings more effective for weight loss because if you can sprint like an athelete chances are you have minimal body fat and you dont need to lose weigt in the first place.

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Jogging is when you run very slow. This tends to exert more pressure on knees. And this could be problematic.
I started jogging a few weeks back due to moderately high cholesterol. But then I read about how some people actually had to go through surgeries due to knee complications from jogging. Terrible. So just to be on the safe side, I have now bought knee braces. I hope they will help keep me knees in proper shape.

Plus I am also trying to run rather than jog. But it is not easy to run for 30-45 minutes. And when I shifted gears to running, I noticed pressure on lower leg rather than knees. Which I think is a good thing.

But I don't want to lose weight. I only want lower cholesterol and increased blood flow.

I read somewhere that brisk walk would be effective in losing weight ONLY if the same distance is covered as jogging/running. This means increased workout time.
So this is one drawback.

Khogi wasim akeam went through that surgery towards the end of his career. Like many other bowlers.
Now imagine the usage of his knew.
I say your are safe for years and years to come.
Use specialty ruining shoes.
Find out the truth about surfaces(side walk most deadly to run on then its a road, pavement etc)

Slow jogging can do miracles don't under estimate it. Eventuatlly you can add more cross training to your routines.

Just keep doing it, there will be a point where you can go on and on at high speeds, trust me... u wont even need to breathe through your mouth.

Sprinting will do it... if u dont believe me, PM me

Can you share your Workout routine ?

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Me sitting still on my backside also does the rick for me :D

These days its 45 minutes, starting at 7.5mph, incline at 0.5 going to 8.5mph in the end, incline to 2.5, with 0.5 bursts... Ending up with about 6 miles... Every day, dont take a day off (early morning in weekends)... A 10 minute warm up before this, followed by a 20 min cooldown. Been doing this for a while now. With my weight, thats about 750 calories burnt.

When I went for my physical, the nurse told me my BP was athelete BP and I had very little triglycerides, one of the lowest shes seen, and trust me I eat ALOT, so its not the food that made it that way, its the increased heart rate in high intensity cardio that did it for me.

I tried sprinting, but looks like I am not ready for it yet. At this moment I am ok with jogging.

In these 2-3 weeks my stamina has at least tripled. I took very few very short breaks today. I will try to jog for about 25 minutes continuously without any break, and then I will try increasing my speed.

I did it today. yoohoo!
Congratulations to me! :D

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

You should mix in some sprints..It's definitely worth it

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Ok so I’ve taken a long break :halo: from gym…but today I went back after a few weeks and honestly I’m kind of impressed… I did 35 minutes on teh treadmill, but 25 of it was jogging/running/sprinting. I guess all those weeks off didnt do THAT much damage as I was afraid of!

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Jogging : the side of the foot arch must touch the ground first, then followed by the ball of the foot,

sprinting : the toe and then the ball of the foot must touch the ground

if over weight, start with jogging, have footwear with thick shock absorbing soles, once aerobic stamina is achieved, do 30 sec. gentle sprint, 1 min jog. and drink plenty of water

if you have a heart rate monitor. stay between 45-55 % of your max heart rate, and you will loose fat efficiently

approx max heart rate = 220 - age

cheers

Re: Difference between jogging and running?

Jogging and running can be very harmful if you do have that natural gap in between your tighes which they check for Army Recuritment. Brisk walk is the best.
