Assalaam u 'Alaikum sister,

** Sunni ** is just a more convenient and shorter way of saying Ahlus ** Sunnah ** wal Jamaah. Usually, Salafi Muslims are those who rely exclusively on the Qur'an and Sunnah, and the Ijma' (Consensus) of the Scholars, and do not mind mixing one school of thought with another or using the judgement of other scholars.

Many of the educated Muslims today, mix one school of thought with another, and even use the ruling of other scholars, that may different from the ruling of these 4 schools of thoughts.

"Salaf" refers to the earlier Muslims, (as you know already), and every Muslim in principle is supposed to follow them, since they were better Muslims than us.

The Holy Prophet (S) never specified that there would be 4 schools of thoughts, and that you'll have to rigidly follow any one of them. They just developed in a natural way, and all of them correct.

They hardly differ in matters of belief, but usually only in some small matters, that are usually subjected to interpretation .

I have been to Sauadia Aarab, al--khubar and al-hafof..

there was a mosque of Shia's right to the left side of my home there. SO im sure.. There are Shia's mosque there in Saudia Arab..

According to my knowledge there is no diffrence between shia and sunni mosques..

yes there is huge diffrence between the ofering of namaz,timings, abulution and all other topics..

but apparently no diffrence in msoques.. I beleive mosques of All sects are alike. Its what ppl who make it diffrent...

that is all..

I understand what you mean by that, but now a days EVERYONE calls themselves ‘sunni’ or ‘ahlus sunnah’ and then follow what ever diviated paths they desire, so then it’s important in some cases to declare your aqeedah, ‘ahlus sunnah wal jamaa’. Which is just following the Quran, sunnah, and the way the sahabas understood it, and like you mentioned already also the Ijma of the scholars.

Allah(swt) knows best, may He forgive me if i’ve mistaken, and show us all the right path. Ameen.
