Dietary Variety for Infants

Re: Dietary Variety for Infants

Muniya i never fry nuggets for Heba... even the halla ones from the butcher, i just warm them up on the thava... and if im making them from scratch, i brown them on each side and then put them in the oven for baking... so they're not tooooo unhealthy that way

Re: Dietary Variety for Infants

there's a lot of recipes for oven baked chicken strips & chicken nuggets that you can find on google. Set up the chicken nuggets, but spray a baking tray with olive oil and bakes the nuggets in oven...still come out crispy but healthier.

absolutely.

In fact, put him up on his high chair with a large bib, clean his hands and tray real well. Let me play. Hlaf the food will go in half on the ground but that is how they learn.

Pastas are the best. They say not to give eggs before age 1, but you may want to experiment...try scrammbled eggs. Maybe just a little bit.

Also try making porridge out of semolina (sooji). It's very nutritious. Another kids fave is mashed sweet potato or the regular potato with some butter.

Re: Dietary Variety for Infants

** sadz** will try that tonight  thanks.

afro you rock beta! I googled and found a great recipe to use corn flakes and milk as a coating. Will try and let you know how they come out.

**Nikki ** the pasta was a hit last night. I made with broth and cubed carrots, peas and string beans. The boy laped it up — actually picked put the green beans to eat.

Muniya, a real easy way to get homemade nuggets is to just marinate in simple things (whatever u like), then dip in flour, brown each side of the chicken on a tava for like 1 minute and then put in the oven for maybe 15 minutes..

turn out great! u can make them any size you want.. !

nikki, i found sweet potato hard to feed Heba when she was that age... it seemed to get hard real easy and id have to put milk in it to keep softening it, but i prob didnt make it right..

Muniya, i hope your lil one eats carrots properly... this is disgusting, but mine wouldnt digest it properly and it'd come out in her poop just the way it went in.. LOL

Re: Dietary Variety for Infants

Here are things I use to give my child. Introduce new foods one at a time, with 2-3- days in between to make sure your littl eone is not allergic.

  • Porridge made with milk only. Barley, wheat, oasks, mixed cereals etc.

  • Make combo' foods e.g. macaroni and cheese etc but don't add salt.

  • Boil chicken pieces in water. In another pan boil some lentils, carrots, peas, cabbage, potatoes, 2-3 slices of onion, 5-6 small cubes of tomato and boil. In another pan, boil couscous, pasta or rice. When all three are cooked, mix them all together, blend and feed to little one. *(My little one loved eating this. As she got older, I kept the mixture thicker.) *

  • Soft pasteurized cheese. Yogurt, cottage cheese.

  • Fruits cut into cubes, strips or mashed.

  • Teething crackers (Sainsburys!)

  • Bite-size, soft-cooked veggies for him to eat himself e.g. carrots, peas etc.

  • Egg yolk, pureed ground meat, mashed lentils etc.

  • Finger foods e.g. lightly toasted bread cut into strips, small pieces of ripe bananas, those spiral pastas etc.

  • Non-citrus juice. Apple or Pear.

Oh make desserts as well.

  • Boil apples and pears together (to make them soft), don't add any sugar, blend and feed to little one!

Re: Dietary Variety for Infants
