dietary supplements

Has anyone used any fat burning pills such as Hydroxycut, Stacker II or Thyrolean?

How effective are these? Were there any side effects while using them? How fast do they work? Did it give you more energy and strength during workouts?

Please share your knowledge and experience if you’ve used these.

Thanks.

i dunno what the new situation is, but there had been a lot of talk about ephedra in these supplements which had adverse health effects. aside from apetite suppression, i dont know what else they can do that is not dangerous. other things that they would have is caffeine..

My advice...avoid them

Fraudz - FDA plans to pass a ruling to ban supplements that contain ephedra. It has already been banned in some states.

I've used them a while back. Although the results were good, it caused miserable side effects such as jitters, increased heart rate and insomnia.

I'm also leaning towards avoiding it, but if there is someone who has used a certain supplement which doesn't give these side effects and is effective I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Just wanted to check one more time if any one has used dietary supplements for weight loss and would like to share thier experience with it?

I spent years messing around with various diet pills during my teens and I strongly suggest you avoid them at all costs. They are no subsitute for a good diet and exercise and you'll end up wasting your money and damaging your health.

The only dietary supplements that I have known people to acheive dramtic weight loss with are Reductil and Xenical but these are only available through a doctor and your BMI must be over a set amount in order to qualify. Even these drugs come with their side effects - patients taking Xenical often experience loss of bowel control.......so you might end up thin but you're social life might suffer. And the drugs haven't been on the market for long enough to ascertain whether patients can keep the weight off after stopping medication.

Thanks Shahreen.

I think most drugs that require prescription are for those who are obese or may have some illnesses associated with weight, which is not the case with me.

I was thinking about something like Hydroxycut or Thryrolean, both of which I tried few years back when Ephedra was not banned. Although it gave good results but the side effects such as jitters, insomnia and higher heart beats were no fun.

I think I'll probably avoid them. Had someone tried any latest supplements in the market today with good results & low side effect I would have tried as well.

Well if you are not medically obese or have any other physical reasons why you can't lose weight then there is no reason why you can't lose weight following a sensible diet and exercising.

It's very easy and tempting to look for a 'quick fix' solution but in reality I doubt you'll find something which will give you the results you want and with no side effects. If such a pill existed then everyone would be thin and the diet industry wouldn't be as booming as it is today.

In addition to proper diet and exercise these supplements serve as a catalyst in achieving the desired results. But thier side effects outweight their benefits so I think I'll stay away from them.
