how long can newborn remain in diaper? Means after how many hours should I change to avoid nappy rash?
For someone who is breastfeeding you need to make sure you are eating enough calories and drinking plenty of water. Eat foods that have healthy fat - avocados, nuts, panjeri, milk - also make sure to eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Just make sure you arent trying to diet or lose weight. You definitely needs lots of calories to nurse.
In the first few weeks, i was feeding the baby every hour. I think this is when they are learning how to nurse, so they may need to nurse more often. The baby will start to go longer between feeds by 6 weeks.
I would change the baby's diaper after every feed in the beginning. But just check the diaper to see how wet it is.
Agreed with saima and eastern. I would also add try to hold off supplementing with top feed for at least 6 weeks. Baby needs to get used to nursing and your milk supply needs to be established. Feed the baby as he wants it- there is no set schedule right now, he is too young. As someone once told me- when in doubt, whip it out! If he's crying and he has a clean diaper, has slept and burped, nurse him. With time, you will eventually figure out his routine. Don't rush things.
You should see a lactation consultant. Maybe the baby isn't latching right, leading to breast pain and crying baby?
Also, fennel is supposed to help make more breast milk. And it should also pass into the breast milk and help babies with colic and gas. I don't have any experience with it yet, I'm just reading up a lot on this these days so it's all theoretical.
