Diet before and during pregnancy

Hi there,

I’m trying to eat more healthy these days as Inshallah we want to start trying for a baby within the next year or so.

Just a question for those of you who already have gone through pregnancy.

Did you always get your 7 servings of fruits and vegetables in a day before pregnancy and during pregnancy? The articles I am reading online seem to suggest that if you dont get at least 7 servings of fruits and vegetables in a day, then it can be very risky before and during as it may mean difficulty conceiving or the baby not getting enough nutrients once you do conceive.

I understand pre-natal vitamins also offer a lot of nutrients so is it really necessary to have the full 7 servings? Realistically I dont always get 7. I usually get between 3-4 a day and am wondering if that is too little. I’ve talked to a lot of pregnant women or women who have kids and they said they couldnt eat anything during pregnancy and couldnt keep anything down but they still had healthy kids Mashallah.
