My Nikah was in English and so is the Nikahnama. It was the most simplest, half a page Nikahnama I've ever seen. Imam took 30+ mins though to conduct the Nikah. He explained me my rights as a wife and my husband his'.

the funniest part of mine was that my dad read ALL of it to me loudly infront of everyone and when it came to the box with 'monthly income' dad read "SIRF EK HAZAAR MAHAANA" (1000rs monthly) and it was really funny to see him emphasizing on "SIRF"more than anything else :D

I had read it a week earlier than shadi because my dad filled a photocopy of it roughly and told me to add/change anything I wanted to before he handed it over to ILs for a look. So my husband would be in a better position to tell if he found something 'surprising' in there ! ;)

^ I worked on reading it thoroughly like two weeks beforehand. read every version I could get my hands on and was fully versed with it when the time came.

Which is good, since the maulvi wanted me to sign where the groom signs on the urdu nikahnama. And my dad scolded me and told me to listen to maulvi

I also found that part confusing, even Qazi sahab instruct me through his finger to sign here and I was like really and he said it is ok.

Yes I read it nothing interested in it but when it was translated in English it was bit funy for me bc instead of single it was mentioned virgin oops

I’ve seen they translate “kunwari” into “Virgin” .. Why not just “single?” .. okay this is 7 yrs old, maybe it changed now

Cupcake: Yes, I do have English translated nikkah nama.
I guess it is virgin on my one too. My nikkah nama was not filled at the time of signing but my information was already written on a one page short form, which Qazi sahab used to read during my nikkah. So yes, it was very simple and elegance moment of my life when i was sitting in mosque and people were around me. Alhamdulilah.
