Did anyone here plan their pregnancy? meaning did you prepare before you even started trying to get pregnant? Perhaps losing some weight/changing diet/ organizing/ reading pregnancy/parent books/ changing jobs/ saving money?
I dont know the first thing about kids, I probably held a baby maybe 5 times in my life. I would like to have a kid next year, and would like to start trying in october. What should I be doing now?
Re: did you prepare before you started trying?
Hi
Some of the things I recommend my patients are:
- schedule a preconception visit with your doctor, let them know you’re planning to get pregnant, get checked out
- take folic acid supplements
- make sure you are at a healthy weight and also create and stick to a good exercise regimen, even a walk after dinner helps
- try to cut out unhealthy beverages - especially those loaded with caffeine
- if you have to do any dental work, do it now
- certain fish are high in mercury, so avoid consuming a lot
- avoid stress, plan financially for the baby as it does get expensive
