Re: Did you Know?

In a test match in Faisalabad in 1997-98 ,Mushtaq Ahmed was bowling to Pat Symcox.Symcox missed the ball, which went on to knock the middle stump. However, the heat had fused together the bails and they did not fall. Symcox went on to make 81,his second highest test score.. :p

Re: Did you Know?

I remember one more instance where Dominic Corck was facing Mushtaq and Ball went through wickets without touching any thing and he survived. If I remember it correctly. :hmmm:

Re: Did you Know?

Among the batsmen who have scored 2000+ Test runs since January 2008, Thilan Samareewera (69.21) has the best average in world. He scored 2561 runs in 28 Tests during this period.

He has 941 Test runs against Pakistan at average of 58.81. But guess what! he has been dropped from upcoming Test series against Pakistan.

Re: Did you Know?

BS Chandrashekhar probably has the lowest batting average in test cricket.

(And his legs probably did tremble against Andy Roberts and company!)

Re: Did you Know?

In the 70s, there were two Parkers playing as opening batsmen for their respective countries -
J (Jeff?) Parker NZ
Ramnath Parkar India

Their counterpart - Glenn Turner and Gavaskar, each being the greatest batsman of his generation/country.

Re: Did you Know?

Chinno Goswamy was the only person who represented India in both cricket and football - sorry I think he represented West Bengal in Ranji trophy and India in Football in the 70s- still impressive

Re: Did you Know?

Jhonty Rhodes was a pretty good field hockey player as well, i am not sure if he represented south african national team, but i think he was pretty close. Checked, yes indeed he was part of south african hockey team for 1992 and 1996 Olympics though he couldnt play in either. Jonty Rhodes - Wikipedia

Re: Did you Know?

Ric Charlesworth played both cricket and hockey for Australia

He started off as a cricketer but went on to become a successful hockey player leading Australia to World Hockey Cup glory in London in 1986

Re: Did you Know?

Sunil Gavaskar carried the bat the most number of times (I think) - his centuries were mosty in defeat - while Gundappa Vishwanath's made his centuries and 90s count with victory. So Gavaskar was aguably the Tendulkar of his generation.

Re: Did you Know?

At the time Pataudi was playing Ranji Trophy for Hyderabad, there was one Patrudu playing Ranji Trophy for Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad is a city in the state of Andhra Pradesh)

Re: Did you Know?

Re: Did you Know?

**15 years !

It’s been **15 years when a ‘certain someone’ scored the fastest ODI century in the history of ODI cricket off just 37 balls !

The record is still intact with the ‘Man’ !

Our very own :

Sahebzada Muhammed Shahid Khan Afridi !
