Did you know.....

The word tashreef was actually a crude word for ASS in urdu long time back and was considered offensive, but now its used in everyday sentences?
So when people say : “aiyay aiyay tashreef rakhain” it actually means
“sit your ass down!”

 just thought u ppl shud know…:halo:

Re: Did you know.....

:) I think tashreef is derived from the word "Sharf" which means 'knowing' or knowledge, right? any Urdu experts out there?
So what you r saying is to bring in your "knowingness" and leave it on the Chair:D

"TheVioce" you just exposed your 'Unknowingness' to us all:)

Re: Did you know.....

Urdu language as I know it is not a vulgar language, like some Pnjabi words; In your FACE down right UGLEEE, then again slang is slang, you may be right in old SLANG URDU 'tashreef' may have been a polite way of calling some one an 'Ass':)

Re: Did you know.....

May be some paindoo from their jahalat after listening Tashreef they guessed its their ASS. Ha ha ha. so they put their Ass tokra on paindoo Ass. Just kidding no offence paindoos. Jahalat tokra.
