does it happen to everyone, and is it worse than when before you got preg…ive heard horror stories where people havehad bald spots for a while..

nadz sorry to tell u but ive got to share my story. i was pcos (m not suprisingly not now as checked on ultrasound after 2 mnths of my delivery) and i have hair bald patches since i am a teenager and trust me its gone worse than ever!!!! my hair loss was increasing from teenage till preg.. slowly but consistently but now after delivery i have more bald patches its just horrible... but ppl tell me it will happen till the baby turns 7-8 months and then everything will b back to normal.. ur hair i mean. dun worry! ppl like me who already had chronic hair loss shud worry

during the final stages of my pregnancy, and mind you I delivered 6 weeks early, my hair were beautiful. Thick as ever and silky. This stayed for about a month after I delivered, but now my hair have started to fall out. I'm continuing to have my pre-natal vitamins as well as a diet supplement. I'm sure in a month or so my hair fall will stop and I can stop picking up strands of hair off my baby and pillow all the time!!

sheesh VS u just made me realise how silly i was and stupid too for not talkin to my doc!!! atleast i shud have talked and raised the issue.. now when she is 5 mnths i m regretting not talkin.. i will talk to her rite away... i have already lost soo mch i cant even back comb to hide my patches.

VS my history is i already had hormonal prb and was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 21.. m 27 now. which meds and supplements shud doc recommend for my hair loss... which is not like normal ppl who deliver.. my case is different as you can see

Mall, it wont be a bad idea to have a word with your doctor. Even if you can get hold of the nurse practitioner at the doctor's office, run your situation by her and see what she tells you. We're all different and so what works for me may not work for others, but I do recommend you continue taking your pre-natal vitamins every single day!!

exactly, I'm still nursing so I'm taking it too..and on days I forget to take it, I really start feeling weak and pain in my knees. So I guess it's worth taking it.

Yes, there will be hair loss but should not be less then it was before pregnancy. What happens is that due to pregnancy hormones the hair becomes thicker. But once pregnnacy is over teh extra luster and thickness is lost and you go back to the original, people who are breastfeeding may experience the hair loss a little later upto 6 montsh after delivery.

Np bald patches, but I lost a lot of hair months 3-5. It's back to normal now.

It's not a big issue. The thing is that due to hormones in pregnancy your head doesn't shed naturally as much as it normalcy does. So after the pregnancy, it all falls at once, but then things return to normal. The vitamins will help keep what you have healthy.

Thats what my mom says too that I'll be shedding a lot of hair once the baby turns 3 months! So glad my OB is making me continue my pre-natals for 3 months post-birth
^if you are nursing, continue longer.
But seriously guys, the shedding is natural. Vitamins won't stop it if it's supposed to happen, but they will help keep your hair and the rest of your body healthy.
