Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

They want to talk about exchange of non-combatants, and also combatants. But the government who is supposed to be on the side of Pakistani people, has not brought up the matter of families of victims of Taliban terror.

We should expect this when both the government and Taliban belong to the same deobandi ideology. This is expected of the talks in which there are no representatives present from the majority of Pakistan; Barelvi Sunnis and Shias.

Nothing for families of victims of terrorism in the talks - DAWN.COM

PESHAWAR: As the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and the federal government walk the treacherous path to discuss peaceful coexistence, the bereaved families of thousands of people fallen victims to terrorism are expected to remain neglected.

The victims’ families do not appear to be on the priority list of either of the negotiating sides. There is no official word on what the government is thinking about the sacrifices rendered by thousands of civilian and military victims, who lost lives to the TTP brutalities. While the terrorists’ victims stand neglected, the two negotiating teams have been mulling over the exchange of non-combatant abductees held by the TTP and the state.

TTP negotiator Professor Mohammad Ibrahim, a senior Jamaat-i-Islami leader, has also indicated that the possible release of Ajmal Khan, vice chancellor of the Islamia College University, has figured out in the talks so far.

Similarly, from the TTP side demands have surfaced about the release of the non-combatant members of the families of TTP leaders allegedly held by the military.

However, there is a complete mum about the thousands of people, who have been sent to graves by the TTP suicide bombers and its agents of death and destruction.

“The only solace that the victims’ families could draw from this situation would rest in their ability to feel proud about their personal sacrifices,” said Dr Soherwardi.

“The public at large should remind them (families) that their losses have not been ignored and the whole citizenry stand by them in their difficult times.”

He, however, acknowledges it will be difficult to practice.

Dr AZ Hilali, chairman of the University of Peshawar’s political science department, doesn’t appear optimistic about the outcome of the talks.

“The State will remain at the mercy of guns forever even if the current process leads to establish peace,” he said.

Dr Rizvi also holds an identical opinion.

The likely extension in the ongoing ceasefire might will be acceptable to the government but the army “will never let the coming summer past” as TTP, he added, wanted to avoid armed confrontation this summer, waiting for the post-US drawdown from Afghanistan.

“The Army will not give them that much time; it would see this process a couple of more weeks but won’t let the coming summer pass,” said Dr Rizvi.

He said the nation was also divided over peace talks.

Even the religious scholars belonging to Shia and Barelvi schools of thoughts, too, had expressed reservations about the peace talks.

For Dr Hilali, TTP already has achieved more than it deserved from the negotiation process: it has managed to emerge as ‘innocent’.

“Certain religio-political parties conducted a vicious campaign to portray TTP as ignorant guys and those opposed to them were dubbed as warmongers,” he said.

Dr Hilali said no one was opposed to talks since dialogue was the only way to resolve contentious issues, but the way the government had pursued the process, it had isolated commoners, making them question the whole exercise.

“Isolating people makes part of the psychological warfare in which everything is ignored to achieve specific results,” he said.

In such a situation, the families of terrorism’s victims shouldn’t expect dispensation of justice as the perpetrators of terrorist activities can’t be brought to the courts for trial.

I don't think it has to do with sect of govt and terrorists, more of incompetence and carelessness of govt.

BTW where did you get the numbers of Shias+Brelvis being the "majority" of Pakistan? Thinking along your line of thought, one would've thought you would accuse "majority of Deobandi govt" ignored families of "minority".

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

Sect is important because Taliban shariat is a distorted version of deobandi shariat. If government committee also belongs to deobandi group then they will see a lot of commonalities between them. And they might agree on a sharit-model which will be unacceptable to other Muslims.

Secondly, most victims of Talibani terror are non-deobandi Muslims. May be this is the reason the deobandi-led government is willing to ignore the non-deobandi victims of Taliban terrorism.

About non-deobandis being a majority in Pakistan, well, it is another topic. Can't talk about it here. For now we should at least agree that non-deobandi are sizable and significant group who can't be ignored.

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

Here is an interesting point. We have two options at this moment:
Option 1: Peace with Taliban on Taliban terms and
Option 2: Free Pakistan of the anti-Islam fasadi scum asap, even if at the cost of some more blood spilling.

Now since Taliban have mostly targeted certain religious communities therefore those communities should be the ones wanting Option 1 out of fear of Taliban. On the other hand, the government of the country should be looking for Option 2 because of countless acts of terror committed by Taliban and affiliates against the State of Pakistan (incl military and civilians).

But in reality it is the OPPOSITE! Taliban terror against other religious communities has only strengthened their resolve against Taliban. After every act of Taliban terror those people have demanded JUSTICE against Taliban.

Yet the party in government is looking for Option 1, even though it hardly has been attacked by Taliban or its affiliated groups.

*This anomaly is because our government has sympathy with Taliban cause. It does not see Taliban as criminals. *

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

What government has done is to promote other mufsideen who are in no way different from Taliban. People like Samiul Haq, who are saying that anyone who disagrees with “peace talks” with Taliban will be taught a lesson by his fasadi forces. There will be NO HELP from Pakistan government and army.

Sami-ul-Haq message to Altaf Hussain, Marvi Sirmed, Raza Rumi | The News Tribe
ISLAMABAD: Head of Taliban nominated dialogue committee Mualana Sami-ul-Haq said that those opposing peace talks with Taliban rebels of Pakistan should make a brigade and fight Taliban themselves.

It is extremely disturbing to see likes of Samiul Haq and Lal masjid moron, spreading their extremist ideology through TV interviews conducted by all TV channels at prime time.

The fasadi voice in Pakistan is increasing, while anyone who talks against Taliban is being dealt with accordingly, EVEN in the midst of the supposed ceasefire.

“Extremists want no counter narrative in the state that is why they are attacking alternative voices.”

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

I agree sect is playing a part in how govt is dealing with it. Both army and PML-N at large support the cause of Taliban i.e. spread/implement of sharia/Islam. Nawaz Sharif wanted to become Ameerul Momineen in his previous stint, so he might see this as another opportunity for life-long rule (of himself and then extend to the family after him).

If you did not want to indulge in size of the population of sects/party then should not be making a claim. As for me, even if Shia+Brelvi (+everyone else opposing Taliban including deobandi population) is a very small minority it is still govt's responsibility to make sure they are safe and the govt should be fighting the extremists.

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

Majority of Sindh and Punjab is Barelvi, while Shias form 15-20 % of the population. Its not wrong to state that Shias and Barelvis form the majority of the country. But that's another thing that during the past 2 decades Deobandis are fast catching up, in 2-3 decades the situation might change completely.

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

I am sure Taliban-Nawaz government will not discuss that Pakistani territory not be used to plan/execute terrorism against any foreign country.

Another reason why these talks are nothing but a farce. They are bound to fail even if the government claims success. Sooner or later Pakistan is going to suffer due to this policy of appeasement of terrorists by Nawaz government, either from internal groups or on the international level.

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

That's why talks might actually be a good idea. There is no way talks can bring lasting peace. However, failure of talks would bring a lot of borderline people into the 'operation' camp.

If some high level officials and well connected insiders had been lobbying for release of Taseer and Gillani sons then why haven't the Bralevi and Shia leaders came forward with their terms and concerns? The bigoted Mullah brigade will rather have the loudspeakers in hand always ready to demonise the xyz sect and stir emotions than effectively and pro-actively deal with issues, in a civilized and structured mannner.

Re: Did Taliban-Nawaz government mention families of victims of Talibani fasad?

Where is sectarianism here? :)
Sectarianism is imposition of one brand of shariat over the whole country.

Me being moulvi? lol. I am in favor of disallowing the use of religion in politics completely. Religion should not be a part of state affairs. No party and no law should be formed based on any religion or sect.
In my view, Objective Resolution was the first nail in the coffin of a peaceful democratic Pakistan which Quaid had envisioned. sigh.

Yes, the shrines of Owais Qarni and Ammar Yasir, both highly respected companions of the Prophet, have been bombed in Syria.
Earlier the mufsideen destroyed the shrine of Hijr ibn Addi, another sahabi e rasool, and dug out his remains from his grave.

No Hindu, no Yahoodi, no Nasrani would have done it. Except people who called themselves Muslims.
