**Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal? Was it another reward for Pakistan? **
According to American authorities, the Naredra Modi’s visa denial and revocation decision were made at the very high level and American Secretary of State Dr. Rice was made aware of all the decisions. The US has said that its decision to revoke visa to Chief Minister Narendra Modi was not based on any US government findings about his responsibility for the Gujarat riots but the conclusions reached by the National Human Rights Commission of India in this regard. US State Department Deputy Spokesman Adam Ereli told reporters that it was inaccurate to say that America have determined that Modi was behind the riots in Gujarat in 2002. **Pakistan a month back made a big noise about not playing cricket in Ahmedabad . When you add all the dots, it seems Musharraf requested Bush Administration to refuse the visa to Narendra Modi and Pakistan was given the carrot. This may be another reward replacing immediate delivery to F16s to Pakistan. **
There is no way anyone can prove this theory. But common sense says there is something wrong here. Does America stop all human right abusers from entering America? Then the Chinese leaders, Israeli leaders and many in the world would have never entered America. Determining who is a human rights abuser is a political game. It is good lesson for BJP and for that matter current Indian Government. Under Indian constitution, Narendra Modi is liable to answer to the nations if there was human rights violation. The problem is how does the West justify butchering of millions of Hindus in Pakistan during and after the India-Pakistan partition. What about killing and terrorizing the Hindu population of Jammu and Kashmir? What happened in Gujrat is deplorable. What happened in Punjab is also deplorable. What is happening in Kashmir for the last twenty years at the instigation of Pakistan is even more deplorable. Narendra Modi should not come to a country that does not welcome him for whatever reason. He should not make himself available over satellite either. The American Indians can take the matter within legal jurisdiction in America to whatever level they want. America has every right to refuse visa to any one the country feels not welcome for whatever reason. But then we must remember – India can do the same too!
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
Modi was also related to Nazi praising textbooks in his state. This might be the last nail in his coffin, as far as American VISA is concerned.
Musharraf does not get two hoots about any muslims or any person anywhere in the world, as long as his military govt is recognized and dollars keep rolling in, for defence and other military benefits
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
Who ever wrote this is a complete idiot! If this is the extent of India’s journalistic credentials, then they should all bow their heads in shame:rolleyes:
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
This is so funny! Mushy has more important things to worry about than pressing upon the US government to deny visa to Mody. This is one good thing the US government did in past so many months. However, wish they had acted and reacted, admonished and reprimanded the Indian government back then when the attrocities were comitted against the innocent civilians.
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
India would love to assume that Pakistan is compeltely irrelevant now that they are a "super power," you know, give em the Arafat treatment. And yet insecurity is so hard to disguise...
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
This is total rubbish. An economically secure Pakistan is in the interest of India, as it will take Pakistani mind away from trying to destabilize India.
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
Bro, everyone knows that Indians everywhere have one cherished dream, and that is to be the next superpower. They love to laude this over Pakistan from every sphere, be it cricket or anything else.
You get this immpression from everywhere in India…
Re: Did Musharraf influence America’s decision in Narendra Modi’s visa refusal?
pakistan dont represent indian muslims just uses them for propaganda
When asked, “whether Saudi Arabia would consider making the Indian government realize that the Muslims deserved a fair deal”, he responded “Indian Muslims, because of their sheer number, cannot be regarded as a minority. The Indian Muslims were quite capable of looking after their own interests and did not need any support from outside”, a clear snub to Pakistan which does not miss a single opportunity to embarrass India
Anwar Sheikh another Pak scribe says “The Indian Muslims may class themselves as the children of foreign invaders to nurse their inferiority complex but the truth is that 95% of them have the same Indian blood in their veins as all other Indians such as Hindus, Sikhs or Christians. The remaining 5% have certainly become Indians by the long domicile in this country. Have they got anywhere else to go? Never mind other Islamic countries, even Pakistan, which was created for all Muslims of the subcontinent, shall not take them in”. Pakistan is yet to repatriate its own Bihari citizens stranded in Bangladesh since 1971! Shireen M Mazari Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad admits in an article “A strange national tolerance” (THE NEWS- 13 AUG03) writes-- “Yes, it is shameful for Pakistan that Biharis who will not deny their Pakistani citizenship continue to be stranded in Bangladesh since 1971 while Pakistan has allowed other refugees free access to its territory”! If Pakistan cannot take in Indian Muslims as its citizens what right has it got to meddle in the internal affairs of India, endangering local Muslim population
