Ok so now that I’m back in UK I’m getting the opportunity to analyse the shopping I did over the short 3 weeks I was in Pak to get all my wedding things together.
When I was getting the cards done I saw some really fancy things. They looked like cheque books. Really fancy but mum said they weren’t practically as they’d be so expensive for postage.
Anyway, this is the card I got made and I could really do with your views on it. I dont have a pic of the outer folder/casing this card is put in but soon as I get a snap of it i’ll post it.
I think these are quite nice. I just got one of those cheque-booky type cards from someone, and i think they look a little ridiculous. Especially because all I looked at was the venue. Their ultimate destination is going to be the raddi ka stack. So what's the point? Now you can use the money you saved on the cards on their postage or something else to make you happy. :)
I would do the super duper fancy ones for like a few people...close family and friends, just as a keepsake or something.... and normal, reasonableones for eveyrone else.

That’s what I’m planning as well! I love the idea of a keepsake box. I’ll keep the actual invites the same (like the stationary) but the guests would get them in different holders; one lot in envelopes/regular and the close family and friends in silk/blingy/embellished keepsake boxes.
I’m doing that because I’ll have a wedding keepsake journal where I’ll stick in the invites so I’d want one invite either way.
those are very nice DF! simple, sweet and classy! i think people are leaning towards simpler wedding cards these days. there was a point where all those fancy umbrella and scroll invites were really in but i think their over done now. i really like yours!
Ugh, I was hoping the minor spelling mistake wouldn't be noticable but it looks like the first uk person spotted it.
I don't know how I didn't notice it. I had re draft for these people like 5 times and everytime I'd go to see the print of what I'd written out for them, some spelling would be wrong.
I need to get re printed don't I? What's the verdict?
I choose maroon because I wanted a classic look. The Waldorf isn't contemporary. Its very classic. One of the rooms were shot in Titanic I believe. Also my gown and the centre pieces were red so I wanted to work around that. But having said that if I had the time I could have designed something a lot better. I would put the jacket for the invite up but I don't want to give anyone a heart attack lol.
Also I didn't go for those wooden boxes with mitai etc because I prefer it simple. A few girls did it in my family and were made fun of for being 'OTT'. I think that's harsh but it depends on how close you are to relatives.
In UK there is nobody important to me in regards to relatives unfortunately. Its all extended family and not a lot of them so I didn't want to go to the effort of those boxes for them. If I was getting married in Pak I think I'd definitely have them!
hehe... im not a uk person but have lived in uk for a year my uni was around Aldwych, thats why i noticed the mistake. Waldorf is a great place for shadi.. lucky you! :)
I dont think u need to reprint them.. not many people will notice and if they do then we all know about the spelling errors that these people do.. so dont worry, its not ur fault.
wooden box for mithai?? never seen it... sounds good though...
Put up ur other shopping too if u have it.
