i have serious doubts about bangladesh being given the test status. i think icc acted in haste in giving test status to this kiddish team i think even our local university team can thrash bangladesh.

We can always doubt the decision. However, If you analyze other cricketing nations and their starts, you might find some similarities.
I dont think its a lack of abilities. Its more a lack of exposure, which they cant get without being granted test status. Add to that inferior training and coaching facilities. So its always a stepwise process.

I am with Akif on this. If you look at the performaces of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka during their early days, they were not very different from Current BD team. Look at them where are they now.

Its not so much as their present cricketing ability, but rather the fierce attraction of the game amongst the Bangladeshis and the potential to do well in the future.
Most new test playing nations start out with thrashings from their experienced rivals. Over time they improve from this higher standard of competition and become worthy competitors in the game. Sri Lanka got test status in 1980 and had shaky start. But then went on to win a World Cup in remarkable style.
Give the Bengalis some time. Will ya?
