Dictatorships in Pakistan

Re: Dictatorships in Pakistan

good post. democracy in the west evolved through hundreds years of trial and error and the system that emerged was according to the needs of individual societies. for example, in some western countries you have a very strong executive such as in the u.s, france and germany and in some countries such as uk and canada, you have a powerful legislative that exercises strong control over the executive. political systems in the west kept evolving according to needs of the society although the process itself was often bloody and tumultuous.

problem in pak is that since people are completly enamoured of foreigners, people want to implement alien systems such as westminster style democracy or sharia nizam even though half the country cant read or write and purhay likhay loag are clueless about how the world works. important to remember that even the west, jahil loag were disenfranchised for a long period because voting was restricted to property owners only. in pak given the ignorence of population as well jahil loag, any govt that comes to power be it democratic or military, faces huge opposition from vested interests that survive by drawing support of jahil awam.

any govt that comes to power has two choices: 1. it takes on special interests 2. it burries it head in the sand and thereby let anarchy take over in pak. the recent opposition against musharraf is due to the fact that musharraf in keeping with his army background is taking on special interests which is causing pain and hence the cheekhna chillana by the opponents. i am glad musharraf is not shirking from the responsibility.
