Diastasis recti

Hello mums & future mums… a few days back I was surfing many sites looking for reasons for a bulging tummy after delivery & I came across this term :- diastasis recti..
This is a condition when ur abdominal muscles separate down the middle due to weakening of the connective tissues. This condition is common post-delivery n is 1 of the main reason for mummy tummy . Although for most women their gaps close automatically few weeks post partum, a few of us r not so lucky. Normal ab workouts should strictly be avoided as they cause more damage to the tissues resulting into further separation of the ab muscles. . You can test for a diastasis recti urself or you can consult ur gynaecologist. .
Diastasis recti can be prevented during pregnancy n can be cured by surgery or by following correct fitness regime. .

I was really shocked to discover that I have diastasis recti coz I had never heard about such a condition. .
My sons r 17 months apart n I already had a bump b4 I really became pregnant with my 2nd boy.. he’s almost 2 month MashAllah nd I still look preggo :frowning:

Below are a few links for reference… plz all of u do take a few minutes to go through these links for further information coz I am new to this myself .. I’ll keep posting more links.

Re: Diastasis recti

have you been checked by your dr to be sure you have it??

it could be a hernia too… which i have after having my 2 kids… have a meeting with a surgeon in jan…lets see what i find out… but if its just diastasis, u can cure it by doing tye right excercises…if u have a hernia or both, surgery is the only option.

but i would really advise you to first get checked… just to be sure

childbirth… the gift that just keeps giving! argh.
