Reluctantly revealing what was said in the call, Mr Burrell said: “She called the Princess a whore and she said that she was messing around with effing Muslim men and she was disgraceful and said some very nasty things.”
Following the Princess’s death,** the late Mrs Shand Kydd spent several days at Kensington Palace going through her belongings and shredding dozens of documents.

Mr Burrell was so concerned that she might be destroying “historical” letters from members of the Royal family that he requested an audience with the Queen, and went to see her at 2pm on December 19, 2007.

In a meeting which Buckingham Palace later confirmed had lasted at least 90 minutes, Mr Burrell said the Queen told him: “Be careful, Paul. No-one has been as close to a member of my family as you have. There are powers at work in this country of which we have no knowledge. Do you understand?”
