there was a time when people would deny even if they had affairs ... now it has become a kind of fashion to proudly declare your real and imaginary affairs. Just the other day this dude in canada claimed he is J. F. Kennedy's son, because his mother had an affair with JFK, while his whole family says its a load of crap.

^ I don't think that analogy works here. Pretty much everyone knows that Diana had an affair with Hasnat. Actually nothing in the news report and Hasnat's statement is surprising. It was common knowledge that Diana and Jemima were friends. It is common knowledge that Diana visited Pakistan. Diana's butler has said that she was deeply in love with his guy, before the affair was broken off. Who broke off the affair is probably the only mildly interesting piece in this story, but again, it is not surprising at all. To expect the mother of the future King of England to live in Pakistan, married to a muslim, sounds outrageous even to a neutral observer.
