Thats true. There is a large industry based on cutting and polishing diamonds in Gujrat. I even heard that the De Beers sends 90% of its diamonds to India for this and balance 10% extra high quality ones to Antwerp, Belgium.
While in transit at Dubai airport, I saw a young Indian guy who was checking and showing diamnonds with a magnifying glass to an old couple sitting next to him. That guy was coming from Milan from a diamond exhibition. He told me about state of the art cutting machinery in their factory in Gujrat and that De Beers from South Africa ships them large quantities for finishing.
I really hope that if Balcohistan develops the way Pakistan is hoping, we can build a massive gemstones industry there. Gold is already being dug there. We got alot of gems in Pakistan's north.

pakistan is a major trader of minerials and gems, currently 90% of thw worlds gems come from pakistan, its just there is no industry and they are all stolen by arabs and chiense.
pakistan can be a major diamond/minerials trader too, but needs the investment to take them out in balochistan and north pakistan.

Gentlemen, Pakistan can be the hub of gemstones cutting, polishing, export/re-export until West has a comfort in trade ethics and honesty of Pakistani businessmen for cutting Diamonds. As you may well be aware Diamond trade is mainly controlled by Jews who have large interest in Indians as there are two nations who know the value of money and trade...namely Jews and Hindus. Diamond trade will come a long way.
We can get high quality gemstones for northern Pakistan as well as from the Panjshair valley in northern Afgsnistan which is the center of largest Blue Sapphire mines in the world. Unmatchable quality and size like big rocks.
Just pray that Musharraf remains and keeps developing Gwadar and Balochistan overall. We Inshallah have a very bright future.
