diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

Guys I’m going Pak on Thursday and I really want to know what the average price is for a decent 1ct diamond engagment ring in white gold over there?

Our ring budget has all of a sudden dramatically fallen and I’m hoping to get the best withing budget.

So guys please help me out here. 1ct white gold solitaire. What’s price?!!

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

it depends on the clarity, and the cut of the diamond....if you want a really nice cut and clear clarity diamond then your looking at around 8 thousand for a 1 carat...

mine was medium cut and medium clarity (its beautiful...i really dont know what the difference is between this and the expensive one) i got mine for around 6-7 thousand...

sounds expensive, but you can usually get a payment plan on it...but yeah thats usually how much a 1 carat costs....

your going to pakistan...but im pretty sure the price woudl be same but just converted into rupees.

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

It honestly really depends on the 4 C's (cut, color, clarity, carat). Out of those the preferences, I would NOT sacrifice on cut. A great cut can make even a lesser clarity and color look clearer and more white. A great cut can even make the diamond itself look bigger. Check out price scope .com, it's a great forum for people searching for the perfect engagement ring and they really know what they're talking about. Go look at some diamonds in real life and see what's the lowest in color you can go before YOU see any yellow. Going down in these categories will definitely help you stay in budget and hopefully still get the carat size you want.

Ok thanks guys. I've worked with jewellery so I am aware of the 4 c''s etc.

My question is what is the price for such a ring in pakistan???

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

Seriously? Nobody knows the rough price of a 1ct diamond ring in Pak?

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

the one that i checked in isl was 1 ct, i did not check C's but seemed very pretty. It was about 80,000RS. i liked it :)

Thats VERY cheap! Was it certified??

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

i have no idea about price but be wary. my friend's sister bought her engagement ring from islamabad last year. it was supposed to be a certified one carat round diamond. when she got back to london and took it to a jeweler it turned out to be fake and the certificate was fake too.

what is ur budget if u don't mind me asking? try hatton garden. my uncle bought a fab engagement ring from a jewelers there, he got a really good deal

We are a young couple budget is only £2000!
How do the jewellers get away with that in isb? Are they not afraid people will come back?
For our sort of budget there are mainly clusters which I don't like and UK is so expensive for diamonds. I wish I lived in the states. All my friends have bought the best engagement rings SO CHEAP over there.
I feel bad for your friends sister though

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

With that budget, why can't you buy something from the UK, or where ever you live other than pakistan. I don't trust jewlers with diamonds over there at all. They call cz diamond...

I suggest you buy it from here.. would take you a day or two .. go to a well known store.. get a certified stone.

i am not sure what kind of ring you are looking for but my wife and myself have a white gold/platinum wedding band (her's has diamonds) which we bought from here (usa). when we went to pak we had one of the jewelers appraise both our rings and they were almost valued at nothing compared to what we bought them for: reason being as per the jeweler is that white gold/platinum does not sell in pakistan. also, i do not really remember seeing any selection in white gold over there. the ones they had really sucked. this was in islamabad.

£2000 seems to be a pretty decent budget.. atleast here in america you can buy nice looking rings for that amount (which you already seem to know). i would suggest you to make sure that in pak they have the ring you are looking. you can also ask your friends in usa to ship it to you..most shops have all their selection online..it is not the same as seeing it in person but it is an option..

finding the right ring can be difficult and i remember it took us a while to find them but you only do it once though so do it right. :--)

and we did not care about carat sharat. our selection criteria was two fold: we both should like it and it should be within our budget.

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

Try good old gold.com, if you're wanting to buy online. They'll make videos of the diamond for you and I assure you, read their reviews, they are amazing and have some of the best diamonds.

do you know how much a certified diamond costs in the uk? I’m guessing not. For 2k you can just about get a tiny diamond with a decent clarity and colour (its so small it doesnt even matter because you can hardly see it) and if you want a certificate thats alot on top.

As horror stories go I know a friend who bought an engagement ring for his fiancee from Ernest Jones. It didnt come with a certificate because the price almost doubles for diamonds that come with one.

Years later they had it valued and guess what. It wasnt even a diamond. When they took it back to Ernest Jones they said we dont know what you’ve done with the ring its been 3 years sorry bye.

I get your fears of shopping in Pakistan but I guess I am more laid back because my mums family know jewellers that have been visited for generations. We have been using the same tailors and the same jewellers since my grandmother who would not screw us over.

I appreciate all the advise but all I really wanted to know guys was what the price difference is!

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

^ plsss don't end up buying from one of those high street chain stores. the diamonds are not usually of good quality; they don't sell GIA certified diamonds. its usually some other bogus company that certifies them.

if u decide not to chance it with getting a ring frm pk then i would recommend cooldiamonds.com

they are based in hatton garden and for ur budget u can get around 3/4 carat solitaire in white gold that is GIA certified. i know its not the full carat but 3/4 is quite a nice size too :) u can select ur own diamond based on the 4c's and what u prefer. have a look online and see what u think

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

^hmmmm i am clueless about diamonds but all i know is that my fiance got me a platinum ring from beaverbrooks? are you saying the ring mite be no good?

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

^ not that it might not be no good, its just that i've just become more picky after learning about diamonds lol. my khala got engaged recently and her fiance gave her a budget and is letting her pick and design her own ring so i've been ring shopping a lot with her and just personally i would rather purchase a GIA certified diamond that meets my criteria rather than buying a preset engagement ring.

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

I just went and chose it from a well known store :D Oh well, il get it valued i think.

Re: diamond engagement ring pindi/isb... HELP!

im sure its beautiful :) i went to a mehndi a few months ago n the bride's ring caught my eye, it was so nice and sparkly. i complimented her on it and she told me it was from beaverbrooks. really nice platinum round solitaire.

distinctiveflair have u decided anything?

Aw yeh its gorgeous, just stood out from all the rest :)
BB have some good stuff, bit pricey but worth it!

Hey girlies! I'm actually just in the departure lounge on my way to pakistan, wohoo! Going to miss hubby so much :(

Anyway I'll probably give the diamond ring a miss from Pakistan. My phupho and s few diamond rings that she got from Pakistan and had them valued in the states where her daughter lives. They were valued well.

I'm just going to go there and see what happens!
