Re: Diabetics
I have type II diabetes . What kind of experiences you want me to share ? It is a very open ended question.
You can find lots of information here :
American Diabetes Association Home Page
I myself use this site and see my doctor regularly every six months as advised by him. I take all the precautions and medications prescribed by him. It took me long time to start running on tread mill for 30 minutes every day . It started that when my doctor told me if I do not do that I might have to go onto insulin shots. I do not want that to happen.
Re: Diabetics
**Personal expreirences I guess. how did you feel when you were first diagnosed? Do you wish you could just be "normal" and not have to worry about diets and numbers? Was it a big lifestyle change all at once? etc?
Im type 2 but my doctor has put me on insulin for some time because my numbers were too high....**

My mother had it , and I was the one who took care of her. So I had no fear or trauma when I found out. Mine was discovered during a routine checkup and was in very initial stages. So I did not have to make any lifestyle changes . I stay away from sugar and foods and snacks high in sugar. I use splenda for my tea and beverages and my wife uses it to make sweet dishes.
Re: Diabetics
My dad has been suffering for a long time now with type II diabetes. He was always a bit over weight but not huge; none the less it eventually caught up on him. He was on tablets to start with but couldn't keep in under control so moved onto injections.
Probably the biggest impact was on my mother. She really struggled to see him injecting and became very paranoid about my health. It sent her into depression as it made her think my dad was about to die. He keeps it mostly under control these days but she still struggles.
