To put it into perspective, Pak's significant lead can generally be attributed to the Imran/Waqar/Wasim era. The late 80's and early-to-mid 90's period when Pak were at their best and India at their crappiest. Throw in those numerous India-Pak Sharjah ODIs played during that time period.
That being said, Pakistan has of course always been a far superior bowling side than India.
at one point, i did run some analysis to see India pak overall record in last 15 years (after 2000) ... the period in which indian team got more and more strength whereas Pakistanis were on the other side of the curve... and even in that period, India did not have a winning edge .
since Jan 10 2000, Both teams have played 49 ODIs, Pakistan won 25 India won 24 (including the WC match this Sunday).

Golden Asif has provided some stats in the other thread. Pls take a look. India is up 11-10.

it does not matter...he probably picked a different period..after 2004 maybe. The point i am trying to make is that even in the down period of pakistani cricket (2000-2015), Indians have not been able to dominate the results at all the way Pakistanis did when it was down period for the Indian cricket (1985-1999). That is all.

Can hardly call that ‘domination’. PD’s point being that even with the best team India has had for decades, and probably the weakest team Pakistan has had for decades, the records do not show marked difference in win-loss ratio.
Pakistan’s record of playing India in India with Indian team + home ground + home umpires is what I’d call domination…

hahaha... no problems.
Anyways, the idea is this: Given the team India has had in recent years and given the team Pakistan has had in recent years, India has not dominated head-to-head against Pak as they should have. I suppose this is because we don't play each other often enough.
Pakistan uses a lot of 'raw' talent in their national team. That is perhaps why when it comes to high pressure games in world cup, they cannot hold their nerves like the Indians can.
I really admire and respect Dhoni though. As a person he has been down to earth and balanced even in cases where he has been criticized unnecessarily.
Dravid, Tendulkar and Dhoni have been the players from India I really respect a lot for their skills and more importantly, personalities.

At least some one gets it [emoji122]
That's the basic point - Pakistani team dominated the Indian team when Indian team was weak, and the two sides were playing more often. If we were playing with the same frequency now, India would be dominating Pak. That's just the reality of the two teams.

Errr no. Indian team was never that weak! Not so long, India-Pak matches roughly meant that world's best batting line up against world's best bowling attack. So lets not pretend that Indian side which was packed with legendary batsmen like Tendu, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguli was such an extremely poor side. These guys have posed massive totals against Pakistani side, so let's not downplay team Pakistan's record against you.

Not sure what your age is, but I am talking about 70s and 80s when Pakistani team was dominating the Indian team. That time we had the likes of Gavaskar, Vengsarkar etc who by no means were ODI players and Pak had batsmen like Miandad, who although unorthodox, could score quickly.
Indian bowling has always been a weak link. i admit that. the good news is that we are getting better. Irfan is a great fast bowler but in a high pressured game, he could not perform. that's the mental block the Pakistanis get into.
Remember that India won the 83 world cup. Gavaskar was part of the team. As for Vengsarkar he was an attacking batsman. We also had Sandeep Patil, who could tear a bowling attack to pieces on his day. And Srikath an attacking opener.
Those days everyone's strike rate was lower. Probably due to lighter bats and bigger fields. Not to mention less gym induced muscles.

Ahhhhhh. I seeeee. Okay.
Yes you're right I wasn't around in 70s. So what do I know? Psssssttt.

Oh, hold on a sec. So those players were actually not that poor? So I had a point!

Staap confusing me you lot!
I haven't read ur post. We are not a lot.
In my opinion, Pak has dominated India in one day. And in Tests. Period. No point in searching for excuses such as Gavaskar was not a good one day batsman etc. Just acknowledge the other side's superiority. And try to get better.
