There is a program on ARY called “Sports Special” I was watching the last episode and the host mentioned that Dhoni is desperately waiting to face Shoaib. Dhoni said he has faced number of fast bowlers but he is yet to face Shoaib plus he [Dhoni] is confident to take on Shoaib.
At the end the host mentioned “Shoaib ke form ko dekhtay hoay kanhi Dhoni ko lenay kay denay na par jain”.
Personal Note
I know Dhoni is a good bastman but I have not seen him play long enough to evaluate if he is good enough to challenge Shoaib. As I have seen him play few times for few shots and the way he plays I think he has some technique problem. By saying that I do not mean he is not good bastmen but if Shoaib figures out Dhoni’s weakness I think it will be a good contest…I’d say let the fun begun…2 days to go.
btw, the selectors have ensured that Dhoni has a certain chotu (Parthiv Patel) breathing down his neck on this tour. So I am not certain that Dhoni will feel 100% free to throw his bat around.
I think he is quite an explosive batsman, but he shouldn't be making statements that make him look stupid afterwards. I'm still pretty sure he didn't make any such statements and the media is just putting words in his mouth.
Players are trapped... I will tell you one incident.
In one press conference, a reported asked Sehwag , " Do you want to break Lara's record of highest run in one inning".. Poor pendu Sehwag phas gaya.. If he replied 'No' then it will taken as sign on being un-ambitious and low confidence. So he replied 'Yes.. Why not'.. Next day Time of India headlines reads.. ' Sehwag Wants to break Lara's record'.
Similarly, If Dhoni is asked ' are you looking forward to encounted with Shoib' Poor Bihari phas gaya na..
