that was because he wanted ppl to think that there is nothing that one should feel sorry for... that the term "sins" or "punishments" are just a rumour and to invite/ encourage people to follow the wrong path.

anyway…
1-we don’t care about what we are unaware of…if evil is a threat his biggest weapon would be to suprise us, hence his advantage in trying to stay hidden…
2-we fear only what is stranger to us, by being friendly to us and letting us believe he does not exist as a devil, he got from us the lack of fear hence easy trust…esp from naive people…
