Dessert recipe

I would like to have some ideas about dessert for an Iftar party. I don’t want to make any kind of kheer, halwa, or ras malai. Looking specifically for a cold dessert…
ideas please?

Thanks,

Carpdiem

Re: Dessert recipe

why dont u make some triffle....its a cold dessert...and easy...and turns out always good...!!

Re: Dessert recipe

Trifle is a good idea. Or you could bake a nice, moist cake with fresh fruit? Or a pie? Or icecream jello?

Re: Dessert recipe

Blue bell icecream!

Re: Dessert recipe

How about making Watergate Salad? Its realllly easy to make, really creamy and really yummy dessert...very fresh tasting. This lady at work always brings that in for our parties, and its always a hit, more than the typical cake/cookies people bring in.

Here is the recipe:

  • 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant pistachio pudding mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, with juice
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

*]In a large bowl, mix together pudding mix, pineapple with juice, marshmallows, and nuts. Fold in whipped topping. Chill.
Basically you add in the pudding mix dry. Also you can substitue walnuts for pecans and that tastes good to, or mix walnuts & pecans into it. You can find halal marshmallows typically at halal food joints. But this is really yummy...makes my mouth water. Don't worry pistachio pudding sounded weird to me at first, but when I ate this, it was awesome.

Re: Dessert recipe

How about Ice cream with Banana/Pineapple Fritters.....its reallly easy to make......i could give u the recipe..... i always find its nicer then serving just ice cream...though our ice cream is home made as well..

Re: Dessert recipe

everyone loves this dessert everytime they have it. Its light too so they can never get enough.

Get one of those cake mix boxes for a white vanilla cake. bake it as per instructions in a pyrex tray cos u serve it in the same dish that u bake it in. Once baked cool it down. now get a packet of instant vanilla pudding a tub of cool whip a can of crushed pineapple and can of mandarin oranges. drain the pineapple and oranges and cut the oranges up in itsy bitsy little pieces. prepare the vanilla pudding and add the cool whip and fold in with a spatula. add the strained pineapple and oranges to it. Pour the pineapple and orange juice mix over the cake evenly using a spoon. Spread the mixture over it and let it chill. It is yummilicious and pretty much everone goes for a second helping too.

Re: Dessert recipe

Make icecream sundae, Take icecream (any kind you like, you can take more then one flavor if you like, if you are takng two, take one a little strong and one mild) , add jello (any flavor, you can have two flavor jello, cut in in cubes, once it is settled), jelly(any but i like stawberry), nuts (semi crushed almonds, pistachos, walnuts, etc), choco syrup, vanilla wafers(I think they are called vanilla wafers), vanilla pudding (i always use the instant one) frozen berries, and Whipcream.

Take a big bowl, scoop your ice cream and layer it with the above ingredients, alternating the ingredients. top it off with whipcream and a cherry or strawberry, or just with nuts, or dust some hot chocolate powder.

Note: You don't have to have all the above mentioned ingredients, you can have any or as many you like, there is no hard and fast rule or recipie for a sundae.

Re: Dessert recipe

You can also make banana pudding....super easy....actually now my mouth is watering as im stuck at work with nothing to eat!!!!

You need bananas, Jello instant vanilla pudding, and Nila vanilla wafers. The vanilla wafers can be found at any supermarket in the cookie section. Once you have that you will be making layers. The first layer will be vanilla wafers, the second, bananas and the third, pudding (be generous with the pudding). You can make as many layers as you would like, just be sure to end with vanilla wafers on top when you are done. After you have finished with your layers, put it in the refrigerator and let it sit for three hours. Enjoy.

Oh and remember to cut the bananas into slices for layering...its really light and yummy nd i love nila vanilla wafers
