Or just perceived as cultured?
WHat’s the point? Does it allow people to think of you as intellectual and knowledgeable? What about uncultured doctors, no one thinks they’re stupid, really.
So, I ask, why care about the arts and culture?
Re: DesolateChocolate asks: Is there any benefit to being cultured?
what do you mean by being cultured exactly? i suppose the term is self explanatory but i think the important thing is to not 'pretend' to like culture but to actually be engaged in it...
okay so why is it important?
i don't even know where to begin... firstly, to not see "art and culture" as some kind of "THING" but as a fundamental part of how we live and work as human beings. what are you talking about exactly? going to see a concert? talking about a book? liking art in museums? i don't understand... could you be more specific?
Re: DesolateChocolate asks: Is there any benefit to being cultured?
Elvina has a point. It's about being engaged in something that is perceived an intellectual pursuit, whether it's knowledge of something, an art, even a sport. Many people are cultured in many things.
I have seen a fair share of 'pretend cultured' vultures, lol.
Being a straightforward and honest person who is a help to all around them, is a more cultured person than any art critic in my opinion.
