i am looking for a desktop-replacement notebook. I have heard great things about toshiba’s qosmio series, but then again may be i have heard equally bad things about it, from a faulty-equipment viewpoint. i am in karachi and for all practical purposes, the warranty element for toshiba is not available to me i.e. no authorized distributors here of toshiba as far as i know.
i am looking for a multimedia-centric notebook and this one currently tops my list with respect to screen, built-in surround sound and tv-tuner.
Can i have other suggestions for the same please or endorsement of the qosmio?
Although I don't have Toshiba Qosmio, but I have a Toshiba Satellite that I used as a desktop replacement. I haven't had any problems with it at all, alhamdulillah.
The only problems I encountered were due to my own negligence where dust was built up in the fan and I accidentally broke a key (which was taken care of by the extended warranty). In addition to that, I've been pretty careless with it while carrying it around the house (ie. hitting the screen in the door on a number of occasions), but it's still working great and fine, alhamdulillah.
Toshiba, overall is very good for laptops and quite reliable as well. Toshiba is a lot better than HP & Compaq at least.
GenSec: Thanks for supporting my choice (yes i too secretly like it)…but the thing is i was waiting fora G15 (17.1"), but if you say that E15 (15") is heavy, i just cannot imagine my dhan-pan self pulling along this beast. but i would still buy it :ziddi wala icon:

ds: no amd dost…bohat garam hota hai. main ne is ke peechay koi rotian thori pakaani hain :rotato:
AMDz have improved a LOT and infact for the first time ever, AMD is now leading and intel following, these 3 Ghz versions are much better then their intel counterparts and dont heat as much as they used to. i think this is a perfect laptop, cheap, and dead fast.
but i would still buy it :ziddi wala icon:
