With your usual dupatta maybe? That is the middle ground, all you are doing is letting the dupatta fall on your bump to give off a draping effect, which I find quite classy. I think you can tell a difference between a pregnant woman and a fat woman, no?
Oh okay, I was thinking about western wear.
waise the new style of shalwar kameez outfits these days...are perfect for pregnant women I think, you can easily hide your bump and still look classy. One of my friends is in her 2nd trimester now, and she says the A-lines are a godsend for her..
That's not true....GTG herself is an example, she wears hijab and I think also Ira. Sorry but we in Pakistan have weird parameters set for modesty when it comes to pregnant women.
Hijaab is different than dupatta. Dupatta or chaddar is a culture thing. I think Pakistani shalwar kameez is often worn fitted hence the dupatta covers the prominent part of a woman's body. similarly a pregnant women just covers the prominent part of her body with a dupatta. Isn't it's true islamically that women ought not to show the shape of her body.A pregnant woman's belly shape is very visible in shalwar kameez so out of modesty, culturally it is appropriate to cover the belly.

I've heard covering the shape of breasts but never heard of covering the shape of a pregnant belly. And they care more about the belly than their breasts etc, they'd wear lawn kay kapray without any slip but when it comes to a baby bump it's a no no, double standards i call it.
I am just answering your initial inquiry about covering the bump. what some khawateen wear and not wear is totally different.Another argument for pro covering can be biological one, as male species are more attracted to fertile female and a pregnant female thus is attracted and desired...hence if a culture does not want random male members desiring random pregnant females then they would like them to cover it up...

alright...
btw, never heard anything about males being attracted to pregnant women, fertile or ovulating is different but I don't think same can be said about a pregnant woman.
From an evolutionary stand point yes, men are more attracted to women that have curvy hips, bigger boobs and more feminine features becuase those are signs they are good child bearers. Its only natural to see a pregnant woman and for a man to see her as a good future potential child bearer. thats from an evolutionary/biological stand point....True or not Idk
It’s because when they see the bump…it reminds them of what you did to get the bump…and that is just such a sharam-ful thing. Maybe that’s why some desis think it’s wrong for unmarried girls to mention the word, “praagnant.” Just a theory. Seriously, who knows?
Similarly, in our entire khandaan we never say that a woman is pregant. We say that she's 'bimaar' and not feeling well, and use such phrases whilst the other person has to figure out what's actually being talking about. I dislike it because it makes the woman sound like there's actualy something wrong with her, when there isn't.
Yeah, we say " in the family way" lol
Hareem, because desi people tend to be jaahil and superstitious and have filthy minds. They go "oh, she's pregnant, she MUST be having some sex", stupid jaahils.
I think pregnant bellies are ADORABLE, not in a dirty way.
lol...So much for Ash's pregnant body not being seen in the media and how the entire damned desi race is responsible for it. Honestly most of the Hollywood celebs would pay to have her level of privacy. Its got very little to do with being desi or not, she's just lucky that Bollywood doesn't have the crazy paparazzi culture. If she was in LA, she would've been papped all the way to the labour room. Photographers stalking, chasing off duty celebs and invading their privacy is a very Hollywood thing.

LOL
You got it all wrong Jolie.
I am desi, I have lived in desis so it's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.

yeah i don’t get it either, hareem. the nazar bit is rubbish, imho- if that’s the logic behind hiding it, then you might as well walk around in a burqa all the time so you don’t you get nazar ever because no one can see you! d’oh. i always get the sense they’re ashamed of the pregnant belly because it proves you had relations with your husband tauba tauba
as if those people themselves were hatched from eggs laid by a chicken in some nest and not because their parents had relations too./QUOTE
Tha, and worse is when I have had people criticize me for not using a bottle cover when bottle feeding achild due to the nazar issue (so that people would not be able to see how much the baby drank). Funny how gora kids don’t get nazar.

Once, at a family friends house, a baby was constantly hungry and finally, after feeding him for the hundredth time, his mother got exasperated and said "Kitna dudht piyo gay aakhir?!" and then, she and other family members started praying to Allah to forgive them lol :p
