Ya ya, we are all advanced now. Love Valentines and Halloween and Christmas and Hannukah and even Rosh Hoshannah. SubhanAllah.
taking sarcasm hat off now
So tell tell, how do you desi brothers and sisters celebrate Valentine’s Day in whatever country you’re at, be it USA, UK, Australia, Canada, UAE, KSA, Pakistan, India…
Let’s see how we share in this worldwide gesture of brotherly love
when I was in pakistan, we might give friends a valentine card but at that time it was not like one of the popular celebrations. Anyhow, few years down the road two of my cousin's got engaged and my sweet cousin was madly in love with her fiance that he wanted to publish a huge greeting for in dawn valentine section. :D
So I guess now it has some what become a popular celebration event among Pakistani youth in Pakistan.
Niksik, good topic to unpack. anything that is not culture or faith based, but is a idle time killer and capitalist theatricality, has no real meaning and place in peoples' lives.
all these once a year days, to commemorate and/or applaud or shower pleasantries over various people in peoples' lives, is a way to basically have an attempt on opportunities to establish relations and have leisure time... only once a year.
some relationships are so meaningful that these select days of honoring amount to a make-up, a compensation for having lost contact all this other time.
there is no need for the blind expense that unnecessarily comes with all this.
people could create better ways to have a constant healthy relationship and to consistently indicate gratitude and bonding.
