i share your sentiments girls. Here inthe UK we had the wost summer last year and i hardly wore any of my lawn suits.
The prices being charged are wayyyyyyy over the odds, $100 for a lawn suit is flippin ridiculous BUT the demand must be out there! if we dont buy em, they aint gonna charge stooooopid prices.
to be honest i'm not even sure if i like lawn, once you've worn it for a couple of hours, its crumpled and creased and u look like u just dragged yoourself out of bed!
the best thing abt chineyere by bareeze is that with you can buy just the shirts and get the dupatta and trouser yourself, much more affordable that way.
but their lawn is nothing special, you can probably get better stuff from no name brands
Gina, I love the Bareeze material too especially their fancy stuff. Its pretty timeless and looks very classy.
YOu're right Jalpari, in really really hot weather lawn is ideal but here in the UK we very rarely have proper hot days, there are no dhobees to starch and iron em for you and somehow you never get that really neat look with a bottle of starch spray!
there is no way i'm paying $100 for a gul ahmed lawn suit though!
You have company in me BUT only because 1) i have too much stuff from last season that i havent worn even once so i am gonna act mature and use that. 2) i don’t have the strength to go out in this scroching heat, first buy the fabric n then style it and waste 1-2 hrs explaining the tailor. 3) i am gonna settle with the ready made stuff.
She said on tv that she had stuff starting from RS1300?! And that too with embriodery and chiffon duppattas. Hmm.
I agree.
I agree. It’s really hard to wear anything fancy in summers
Lawn is really overpriced this year. Lakhani was mostly priced at 2750 per suit and I didnt understand the reason why. Some suits were embroidered but the embroidery wasnt really good and come were really see through.
Best lawn is Classic or 5star. Costs around 700-800 and lasts some time. Plus coz women dont buy these suits I can find some good prints that ppl keep asking me where I got from coz they havent seen em b4 ;)
I like Bareeze's summer stuff too. It's not lawn though and it's not what is called 'Linen' in Pakistan but it more like the cotton linen we get here in England. It's thicker than lawn but breathable and not clingy and looks so much better than lawn. Doesn't crease much either.
Anyway, I'm really glad I live here, lol. Our summer's don't justify buying lawn, I'm fine with regular cotton suits.
Oh I also wanted to ask, does anyone else do this:
I've been in Pak for a few summers and I got really annoyed that most lawns were 3 piece. So I would choose prints where the duputta would look right as a kameez too. I'd then make 2 kameez's to go with the shalwar with different designing and have one chiffon duputta (I don't like lawn duputta's anyway) to go with both.
^ I mostly do that stoppit and I like to get prints from Nishat because they are the only ones who can give you fabric piece from 0.5m - 10 m in a print and there is no compulsion to get the three piece suits either. you can get only the dupatta or the shirt print from them.

But they hardly have good prints, or do they?!
What i do is, if i really like a print then i wl buy it and just not use all 3 pieces for 1 outfit. You can always mix n match :=) that's how i like my clothes.

I like Bareeze too...there was a time when I wore nothing else..courtesy of Ammi who couldn't be bothered to shop elsewhere.Their cotton suits are lovely and I still have a couple from a few years back which I am still wearing.
Must say last time I was in Karachi...around four years ago...the salvars were very thin. The shop keepers just said that is the demand. So I had to buy cotton ones to go with the suits and ended up making shameeze from the salvar material.
And yes,I do the same with three piece suits too..only I use the salvar fabric..really don't like printed salvars.
I was having palpitations anyway at the cost of kapra in Pakistan...but the price of lawn just is unbelievable

HAHAHAH same here charmedone, my mum would do exactly the same! i would always get really nice compliments on my Bareeze stuff.
yep stoppit, i share your pain hun, i really cant stand lawn duputtas, here in the uk after they've been thru the wash a couple of times they just look manky! cant see myself buying any lawns this year as to be honest none of the prints have floated my boat.Just seen the MariaB prints and they really are a huge disappointment, not impressed at all.
Some one mentioned in the thread about gulahmed being good. I and my mum ordered some wnter stuff just a couple of months back, the embroided khaddar ones and linen...We were both extremely disappointed....the khaddar looked like it'd come apart from the seams after just a few uses...and the color completely faded off the linen stuff....I seriously expected so much better...total waste of money IMO...any one else in the same boat.....or is it just me?
well ladies!! I think we shudnt be buying lawns at these ridiculous prices,,,,,,,WE are actually making it sell like hot cakes....Dont buy...they wont sell, prices will come down :))
I was Khi this past month and had the opportunity to go to many of the lawn exibitions. The first one was by ZQ and it was VERY dissappointing. The prints were ugly and the quality was average. The second was by Lakhani and it was by far the best. Women went NUTS and it was hard to choose between thr prints as they were all good. Contrary to what someone else said earlier, Lakhani's quality is very good. I've been wearing Sana Safinaz prints from last year and never had any issue. The colours are still fresh and after ironing with a bit of starch sppray, thr fabric doesn't cling to you. I'm a fan for life.
We later went to Sobia Nazir and Jofa's exibitions. SN was OK in terms of prints. The designing was below average and the quality of the fabric was also below average.
Jofa's prints looked good on the billboards but up-close they were below average. I didn't buy anything from these 2.
Sana Safinaz's prints are coming out next week and I'm waiting anxiously. Their prices are higher but the quality speaks for itself.
There are many things I considered when looking at designer lawn. The fabric quality and prints are most important. The quality of the embroidery is second and affordibility is third. Obvoiously not everyone will spend 3500 on a lawn jora and then pay 1200 for stitching + 1000 for raw silk finishings but those who do, pay attention and you'll see the difference. It's far better than an average lawn jora.
