I guess so, and I understand that they require some creative freedom in order to make new and better designs.
However, if they haven’t seen or met the bride, then how can they have the knowledge of what would look good on her? I suppose a great outfit will look good on anyone. But there’s also something to be said for a person’s self awareness of what colors or styles look good on themselves.
The reason I would go to any designer is because I’ve seen their work, or I’ve seen a particular outfit of theirs and that’s what I want. So when they say, “No, I’m going to do something different than this,” in my mind I start thinking “but THIS is what I came to you for, not something different.” You know what I mean?
Its a double-edged sword. On one hand we want something unique, and not similar to what someone else has worn.
On the other hand, considering the huge amount of money that’s being spent on a single dress, I’d rather not take a chance and risk that the finished product may or may not be to my liking.
Or it might end up being even better than what I imagined… either way, too much anxiety! lol
