The airports in Lahore and Karachi are really excellent. However the procedures and security checks there make you sick as well.

The Lahore Airport I havent landed in yet, but I heard the only problem is that they dont have ameneties and shops because the rent is to high… Dont know if its improved on that dept..

I passesnger I flew with told me you can save yourself the trouble of going through some of the security checks by having a crisp 1000 RS neatly tucked into your passport. Not that I condone such things but, when in Pakistan…

i think based on this design it will be enough for may be for the past, only 3 gates???? a joke for a next airport for isb. its not for the future, but for past. and it shouldnt go ahead without major redesign to increase the capacity for another 20-30 years.

ummm how is karachi airport nice? i go there almost every year.... ok, maybe the insides are ok (the burgers at rahmat-e-shereen are really good), but the toilets are disgusting, and as soon as you land.... man it is so depressing to see nothing but barren land! they really need to borrow some of the greenery from islamabad and do something about the place!
and all those porters trying to snatch luggage out of your hand so that you can pay them rishvat and they can assure u a green light to everything, Astaghfirullah!
and the custom officers, lets not go there.

The proposed ( or may be accepted) name of this airport is not Islamabad Int Airport, but it is GANDHARA Internation Airport. Musharaf regime is somewhat over moderated…

regardless of how nice they make it look, will the outside actually be a civil place? Or as soon as passengers step out there will be people pretending to be porters offering help, taxi drivers linking up everywhere and creating traffic jams, and just general chaos?

The location isnt in the middle of the city, and the airport is a lot lot larger, so congestion shouldnt be a prob... As for taxi drivers, I cant say.

i hate Islamabad airport. It's just the yuckiest place ever.
Especially when you have to come out of the airport and it seems like half of Pakistan's population is waiting outside.
this thread was started 5 years ago but islamabad airport looks nothing like the pictures! its still grotty and unwelcoming. how long do they need to do it up?!
